Beer Festival down Peoples Park
« on: September 17, 2009, 10:51:46 AM »
BEER-FILLED 21ST BIRTHDAY

There is a 21st birthday party going on in People's Park for the next four days.

It's set to involve hundreds of guests in a tent, and 85 different types of beer.

The Jersey Beer and Cider Festival comes of age this year.

It will run from today through to Saturday between noon and 11pm.

There are fewer varieties of ale on offer this year, but more barrels of each one.

Anybody going?

Saturday is good if you like Sgt. Pipon's Lonley Heart's Club.  Hopefully, there will still be some choice of beer left this Saturday.

How could you Chop Suey! I am on a diet and every time I see your name I want to order a take away!  What number are you on the menu?

I have become quite partial to a sip or two of real ale but can't handle a whole bottle.  I get a 1/4 bottle put in a special small glass just to taste.  There are some pleasant tasty ones.  I think I prefer the light ales to the dark.

I don't normally drink alcohol because it seemed to bring on migraines that is apart from black rum and I did not fancy dark rum all the time, so I virtually gave up drinking. I did try champagne at the Millenium but crickey what a humdinger of a migraine I had by the time I was watching the Sydney Bridge, Australia Fireworks and that was only after two glasses, sipped slowly.

I gathered some sloe berries this year and prepared some sloe gin for hubby for a Christmas pressie!  He will probably like that better than the jumper I will be knitting him.  Yet another chunky Arun style probably in light cream.

These economic times sees me making a lot of pressies this year.  I am busy making quillows and quags.  I usually start collecting little pressies about now.  Less of a shock come beginning of December.

Might be a good idea to purchase a crate or two of Real Ale for Christmas pressie.

Ale in bottles from a supermarket are unlikely to be "real ale".

Real ale is natural stuff, and has a short shelf life.  It has far more flavour than fizzy pasteurised stuff.

I only went down to test the theory that "you order a half and they give you two thirds!"
