Only have a look at this if you are "NOT " familier with a career politician who has not one ounce of shame in taking the money for representing the people when he cannot understand or answer a simple question and only represents his financial well being.

Many have heard him on previous occasions waffle on in circles saying nothing of true value, well here is an absolute peach of an example. Credit to reform who without doubt are more value per head than the whole council of ministers. Assistant Chief Minister Paul Routier who is perfect for the job as he can talk endlessly about nothing regardless of the subject and there have been many.

Check it out for yourself in the short video of the man in action.

All credit to Sam Mezec and Reform with thanks to Deputy Richard Renouf and Mike Higgins who are also not happy with not getting an answer.

True to form readers,  so let us not be surprised as the assistant chief minister Senator Paul Routier proves his worth to the council of ministers by saying,

actually nothing - he did not inject any hope for the RNLI personal or offer a remedy to resolve the issue.

At least he got to stand in front of a few hundred people, and got his picture in the paper.

Quote:

Jersey’s Assistant Chief Minister has called on the St Helier lifeboat crew to go back to manning their boats.

In a press release, Senator Paul Routier said: “I... ask the crew to return to their positions while this dispute is resolved”.

He also says it’s too early for an independent review into the background surrounding the sacking of lifeboat coxswain Andy Hibbs last week, which led to the mass walkout of the crew.

I think she has a good point, this is a PR disaster for the RNLI, they rely on volunteers, they rely on public financial contributions as a charity and yet P*ss of thousands of island residents who support them, not very clever management by any measure.

Funding [edit]

The RNLI is principally funded by legacies (65%) and voluntary donations (28%), with the remainder from merchandising and investment. In 2014, the RNLI's income was £182 million, while its expenditure was £149.6 million.[55] The Institution encourages corporate partnerships, which included in 2014 Waitrose, Yamaha and Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines.[62

More than the UK Prime Minister.

In 2015, the RNLI chief executive received aggregate employee benefits of £151,110. This represents salaries, social security, RNLI pension and company car costs. In 2014, this figure was £149,123.

This is just different branches of the Establishment having a family tiff. Think Pearce v Parish of St Helier or Tomes v Crill. They will kiss and make up in no time because the Jersey Establishment holds all the aces in the pack and the RNLI needs the Jersey Establishment's continued financial support. The people supporting Hibbs and Co are amongst the very best connected in Jersey - they had an article in The Times or Sunday Times (forget which one) within about 3 days of the crew's mass resignation. They run the judiciary, the legislature, the media, the Council of Ministers, the unions, every Quango including the JFSC, Jersey Finance, JDC, Andium, Digital Jersey, the IOD, the Chamber of Commerce and even the bloody Co-op! On Saturdays they like to watch rugger at St Peter and when there's no rugger match you'll sometimes find them out in the bays on their yachts, hence why they're so keen to have the Jersey crew back working. I'm only surprised I didn't see more States Members at the demo but I think a lot of them were away at their second homes abroad. It was unfortunate timing for them. Potentially big electoral advantages to be gained next year for the States Members who are seen to be helping the crew the most. That helps explain why Routier had such a visible presence. It looks like he's planning to carry on until 2022 at least. Oh we're simply not worthy of him!  ::)

Assistant Minister Routier, refuses to answer another question in the states.

Well done to Deputy Russel Labey for putting the question to the always - lost for a honest answer Routier.

The RNLI dispute started ( according to the Express article ) because the now money making incorporated, Ports of Jersey wanted to tow into the harbour a distressed french boat that was already under tow after being rescued by the RNLI Jersey crew.

The French skipper refused because he did not want to pay £1,500. to the Ports of Jersey. Obviously Andy Hibbs and his crew were happy to finish the job without the aid of Ports of Jersey Staff thus depriving them of taking money under duress or as other have called it piracy.

Ports of Jersey then wrote a letter to RNLI HQ complaining bitterly.

Clearly they are just short sighted ! What message if this indeed was the scenario would the action of the greedy Ports of Jersey sent out to the hundreds of visiting craft that stop over  here during the year ?

Why couldn't just for once the minister answer honestly. If this was not the case and the Ports were not involved then obviously the incident did not happen ? Who do you believe ? If they were involved and out to make money then say so.

Is this why physically the whole of Jersey's RNLI staff are backing Andy Hibbs because the Ports are morally and ethically wrong and just trying to rip off people in trouble, where as the lifeboat crew work on a higher moral plain ( as volunteers ) trying to help people in dire trouble.

What next , Andrew Green charging for an ambulance call out ?

If these claims by Deputy Labey today are true then it puts the dispute in a whole different light, although I still can't understand on what basis it could have led to disciplinary action against Hibbs.

It reminds me a bit of those claims-chasing lawyers searching for accident victims, only this time it is Ports of Jersey hoods trying to leach off the bad fortunes of seamen but without being brave enough to actually leave the safety of the harbour and do anything that might put their own lives at risk.

If these claims have any substance than the Minister with responsibility for the Ports of Jersey (Farnham?) needs to be taking action - and being seen to be taken action. But we know that long tradition dictates that Ministers never openly criticise these Quangos, whatever they do. Look at the way they never lift a finger against the money-grabbing exploits of JT.

No wonder all the Ministers are so reluctant to discuss the details of the case! I bet they're hoping they can get the problem resolved behind closed doors without the actions of Ports of Jersey coming under public scrutiny (although the cat has been let out of the bag now, to an extent).

What did Hibbs do ? Probably finished the shout and  agreed with the French skipper / owner by refusing to let the Port of Jerseys agents take over the tow.

Therefore getting on the wrong side of harbour management. Maybe it is not the first time ?

This also explains why "all " the people and crew who give their time for free, did not want the paid sharks to take financial advantage of fellow humans in trouble.

Just a guess but why won't the Port Authority put out a statement, it's all going to be laid bare anyway, to many people are involved.
