You expect him to come here and not be able to have access to his own hard earned cash?  I doubt very much that it was borrowed money but money coming from his account and money he had legitimately earned.  Perhaps you'd prefer he came to Jersey with cash he had previously stored under his mattresses rather than safely deposited in a bank with easy access via an ATM?

No, but I'd prefer French marxists to respect our right to run a legitimate financial services industry, offering services to, amongst others, genuine ex-patriates whose banking affairs are no business of any European government.

Bob Geldof feeding the poor and evading tax:

About the word "Geld"
Geld is a medieval (and modern Danish) name for a kind of tax like the Danegeld or the Heregeld
Geld is the Dutch word for Money !
Perhaps Madoff should have been called Geldoff.....

It just shows what a joke he is :(

There's a simple method which all proper politicians tend to use, if someone asks a question they don't want to answer, they just answer some other question which hadn't been asked.  Whilst they may be avoiding the real question, at least they don't make such an arse out of themselves, i.e. by getting stroppy and walking off in a huff.
