The States of Dandara
« on: March 01, 2014, 12:44:19 AM »
So Dandara have been given permission to construct an extra fourteen units on the former dairy site, "Due to demand"!!
How many local developers have been forced to reduce the amount of units on their sites, "Despite demand"?

"Not what you own, but Who you own", springs to mind. ::)

Lets not forget a certain states member,s decision to allow an extra level of below ground parking on the waterfront, (At tax-payers expense).

You are right Fritz but in case we should forget this appears normal practice and some might call it " The Jersey Way" .

Good luck to all those people trying to update their windows to modern double glazing and trying to get the extension passed.

So dandara got there plans past for the building next to the Grand Hotel.
Take a look at the ends of the building and you will see a tower in blue just like the Tourism Office building so why are people complaining, it sits nicely at one end of the esplanade and the other at tourism.
I am not saying it is nice but just that one could saw it is in keeping with what is already there. Just take a look at all the building alo ng there. They are all of different designs and crap.

The main reason why people are anti this building is that its Dandara, if Le Quesne or a Jersey firm (for a change) had put something forward we would probably go with it.

Dandara have the monopoly and we quite rightly don't like it and seem helpless to fight against their power.

With this getting the go ahead, and programmed to start immediately, is there any point in the new finance centre?
Dandara, being the professionals that they are, will probably have already secured any interested tenants.
The paint will be dry on the Dandara scheme before a hole has been dug on the States effort.

Well as one blog site ( can't remember which one ) put it ozouf mentioned putting all the states offices in the finance centre if there are no tenants.
Ozouf said it in a parting shot in the middle of a sentence so that it would not be picked up.
They talk about the election that have just taken place and was it worth it with the elections in October. Well why don't they hold back on ozouf's glass box and wait until the new states are sitting to air it again. I mean what is the hurry to borrow £500,000,000 and paying the interest if the glass box is really not needed once all the private offices are finished and full of tenants.
ozouf will not be in the states come October I am sure of that remember he dropped to 5th in the last elections and with his big plans he must be voted out.

I was surprised that Mr McClean got in the last time with the flack he was getting but there he was with the final line up.

With the local apathy, ie St Helier 15% and many people owning up to not bothering there is a very good chance he will get in again with the usual suspects, mainly because there is no one out there standing that has his expertise, contacts and power.  Bailhache will I fear, have an overwhelming yes once again.

If bailhache gets in he will be CM and his brother bailiff so they would both hold the most powerful place in Jersey. Lookout!
