Montfort Tadier sleeps off hangover in States Chamber

Yesterday Senator Terry Le Main claimed a politician who'd been out drinking in town late at night had slept in the States building and was woken up early the next morning by the cleaner.

Today Deputy Montfort Tadier faced the cameras to say it may have been him. But, he denies he was drunk and simply says he'd come to do some late night work and to use the toilet. He says he left at about 5am. He may have fallen asleep.

He says he often does it. That he's done nothing wrong. And that many other members do the same.

Doesn't really look very good does it?  I don't think Montfort is making many friends in the States, "a politically motivated rumour" and CTV Online have picked him to bits in this interview....

Quite funny really, it does raise questions about security though. If any and all States members can get into the place whenever they wish , is it not possible that the states building could find itself occupied , or even that a Coup d'etat had taken place ?
A realm of possibilities become opened.
Damn I suppose that means we need a new night watchman.

If he hadn't been named I don't see why he bothered to make the comments he did.  Obviously if Le Main's accusation are correct then whichever member it was has an apology to make, and also possibly face punishment.

As for the interview performance; he missed a few good opportunities to walk away without looking too daft.  Why didn't he just make the statement he wanted to make and leave it there, rather than starting to talk about toilets??

I wonder whether there are rumours that it's him Le Main was talking about, or whether he's just paranoid.

Is this the latest massive cover up in the states?  MT has a drink and sleeps over?

He's young and finding his way in the system.  It's great that someone of his age has got this far in local politics.  He'll come good after this fiasco, I'm sure.

Is he still a senior member of ATTAC in Jersey?

He does not seem very vocal on the subject despite being committed enough to have attended get togethers on the mainland in the past?

This is all they'll have on the lad, I'm guessing.

After watching the report a couple of times you have to wonder if the doris holding the mic is in on it too.  I'm sure when she got into journalism she wasn't aiming as low as that.  He was extremely diplomatic about it all.  I would have turned it on her and asked her exactly what she wanted out of the interview.

Pretty pathetic, but what more would you expect from Le Main?

Any States member is entitled to be in the building, and since when is nodding off during the small hours something out of the ordinary, or drinking wine in the evening?  Good for the heart, apparently!

Apparently he denied being the person concerned but has subsequently admitted the matter.Telling lies to the house, tut tut , I suspect we will have hundreds of people asking for his resignation a la Perchard. Oh sorry forgot he is a left winger and they of course can do what they like , lie, steal votes, damage the Island for their own benefit.
I suspect he will state that the best form of defence is ATTAC.

Sounds like it was Jess Dunsdon:

"But the minus 40 winters and vodka hangovers gradually took their toll." ROFL!

She used to work for Sky, and has gradually degraded herself to CTV level.

She's certainly a dynamic reporter.  Either that or she has a chip on.

What denial are you referring to?  If he denied being the drunken subject of unnamed rumours I don't see a problem, as he has come forward and said that may be the subject of the rumours, but if so then they're not accurate.  And was the apparent denial you talk of to the house in response to direct questioning?  Hardly comparable to Perchard's lies and behaviour.

Working for Channel or in Jersey is not so bad.

Sarah Montague

Russell Labey

and another lady Sky News presenter whose name escapes me.

I have a sneaky feeling that the Channel Islands are a test bed.

If he was pissed why not admit the fact the damage is less in the long run.

His excuses are pretty lame and frankly transparent!
