How ironic: Nick Davies is experiencing the exact same reaction that he talked about in relation to HdlG. Having watched his evidence to Leveson and then his response last night to the new information that it may not have been NOTW reporters who deleted Milly Dowler's voice messages, giving her parents false hope, I think he is lucky that he already got his inquiry before anyone was able to come along and trash his whole investigation.

Because if he hadn't, they would have used that one wrong fact to undermine the credibility of all his work, as they did with Lenny Harper. On the news last night he was complaining about that very tactic, saying 'don't let them use this one wrong fact to blow away the big story'. How very ironic.

Nick Davies is a great journalist. I read Flat Earth News when it was released and have since been following the 'hacking scandal' and inquiry with interest. But the press let the HdlG victims down, firstly by sensationalising and overreacting to the initial forensic finds (pace Lenny Harper who never said it was a murder inquiry); and then the press let the victims down again by going cold on the whole story after they had made fools of themselves.

As a result, we have around 150 victims who have not received justice or compensation. The press owe them an apology.

I agree wth Rob about the victims of Child Abuse at Haut de la Garenne.  The victims of the abuse have been seriously let down by the press.

Do journalists have a duty of care to their readers.  Can the press and individual journalists be charged with lack of duty of care by what they write?   I know this is a vague area but there must be some recourse to law regarding what the press did.

We have been suffering from a rabid accredited media for years.  The type that would knock over little old ladies or children to get a good story!  Hopefully the social pendulum will swing back, due to current enquiries regarding phone hacking, and we will gain a decent press again.  What we are suffering in the press after all is only a reflection of society's lack of individual and corporate morals.

Love thy Neighbour?  Heck no!  Not if there is a good story at stake!

Well there it is about bailhache when he was the AG did not report abuse to the police.
No wonder he does not want the enquiry and has tried everything to stop it!
Mr. Rodhouse in the 80's reported to bailhache about abuse so the news states today.

Well now this is the third time p.bailhache cannot recall a situation that he was involved in. Namely in the case of child abuse when he was AG.
Does this pathetic worm take us all so stupid that we cannot see the truth!
This self-pompous individual  who calls himself a man will he ever admit to making mistakes or even lying to the public or states members.
bailhache stood on a platform of saying he wanted the chamber to be full of honest people and to respectable people.
He is the biggest liar that the chamber has ever had in the history of the states. No other person has be less respectful and dishonest to the chamber and general public.
He should be stripped of his title ( which will not happen ) and  thrown out of the states. Just remember how he behaved over Stuart Syvret in the house at the Christmas speech.
This just goes to prove that he is just a dishonest man who will go to any length to cover up child abuse that no doubt he knew some of the people within his circle of friends.
He is DISGUSTING!!!!
