This issue is being taken out of context, the Pakistani in question and Harry are allegedly friends, I think the slang was not intended to be malicious. I agree that it ws unacceptable in whatever context.

I think the real issue is why did the Rupert Murdoch press decide to run this story, I suggest that as a confirmed anti monarchist and a friend of Isreal the 'story' was designed to get the atrocities that are happening in Gaza off the front pages.

Success for Mr Murdoch and his editors!

The word paki means pure, when pakistan was formed in 1948 it meant pure land, but now its meanng has been warped and spun to mean something racist.  its now worse than calling me a bean, a jock or a geordie.

No, it's silly.  At worst it would be xenophobic. All Guernseymen are donkeys anyway.

Does anybody know what they call people from Sark or Alderney?  (Apart from alcoholics clinging to rocks ;D)

I don't believe that anyone lives on Sark or Alderney.  I've certainly never met anyone from there.

It was just on the news that Prince Charles calls a black friend 'Sooty'.

Verging on the ridiculous here. 'Sooty' doesn't exactly lend itself to being a derogoratory term for someone of Asian descent, and besides, maybe said person has that nickname because he likes wearing a yellow bear outfit and is friendly with Matthew Corbett? Who knows.

As an aside, i once met someone who was outraged when they heard someone refer to a 'blacklist', but thought it was completely ok to employ (or reject) people on the basis of their ethnic origin. Sometimes I think public opinion on racism leans to that way of thinking based on stories like this. Shame.

What do we expect from a royal family with links to the Nazi Party?
