There are truely many deputies I wish I could have the opportunity of influencing their future careers in politics but I am unable to.

On the other hand, those that I cannot vote in or out, can and do have an influence on my life by having a vote on island wide issues.

Perhaps it would be fairer if deputies are geographically restiricted so their ability to vote should be limited to those matters which only effect their disctricts.

I believe change will only come after those in power pass on, and a new generation enters  politics.

We are going to see little change and much more hardship put on the local population and local small businesses.

Even if the silent majority were to vote in the new  faces i fear they wont be able to deliver their promises. sad but true don't you agree

Being a country boy, and more importantly a St Ouennais  (Gris Ventres).   I was always under the assumption that you had to live (preferably born) in the parish to stand for Deputy.   The truth is there are Jerseymen  (and women) and those who don’t come from St Ouens.  ;)

I can Alvin.

We know the names of the States members that are not part of the " in " crowd. There are of course a few (just a few floaters).......... As the " in " crowd always carry the vote due to having a bigger gang, (with the exception of voting time) as you may agree. Come election time if Adrian down the street or people with new ideas are voted in.

Terry Le Suer and his lets be polite, happy band will not be guaranteed automatic votes from the " in " crowd because they will walking the streets, like the rest of the population. It is actually a very exciting prospect using your vote. Takes less time than writing on here twice a week and yet will sack a useless states member or minister. Voting " none of the above " causing a spoilt paper, will not help to swing the balance of power "

The deputies should only be polled and elected before the senatorials. This would the give them the apprenticeship they need.

Agree with Stuart.

It is up to the electorate, or rather those few who can be bothered, as to who gets in.  I would however think twice before voting for a person outside of my district to represent me.

With respect to the Constable this is a bit different.  As Father or even Mother of the parish they must be there to lead the community and therefore need to know and understand their parish and the parishioners.  There is also a large organisation, much of it unpaid behind this post.  I think it is important for them to be local to the parish.
