I agree.

Well they need a majority to get votes through, so I expect that they will be fielding at least 30 candiates in October?

Could you imagine Geoff Southern as our Chief Minister?

That is why the vote should have gone to the people.

It is obvious that 'Chief Minister', is not going to be a great fan of the JDA, but the alternative - an un-checked government where the Council of Ministers are not even checked before doing what they want - if surely even more undesirable even to the likes of you.

To say that the JDA has done nothing is untrue. They have been the ones who have opposed Walker on the most votes - the facts speak for themselves. Dep. Southern has shown himself to be tireless and industrious in his scrutiny work and is effectively a leader of the opposition.

I am saddened that we can not all work together to oust this Government that, seemingly, no-one wants. I know that the JDA has never been the same since the split, but that is in the past (and thankfully before my time). As a JDA member myself, I live by the premise that those who are not for us are for them - and that those who are against them are our allies. I just look at the votes. We need to move past these petty squabbles. Who is the real enemy here?

Many people are making money at the moment.  Where do the JDA stand with people making money?

In favour, if it is made honestly, and fair taxes are paid on it.

What do you mean by fair tax?

certain members show to be more than just left wing (and I mean show as they do not "live" the same doctrine that they prescribe for others). The JDA are also seen as basically the trade unions represented as a political party (which is the main aim, in order to get votes from trade union members) and with such a close contact with the loonies at T J N they scare off those who would like to see a political party.

The JDA could have won years ago if it had kept away from attac, distanced itself from the trade unions (distance doesn't have to mean remove) and if it could have got someone as the chairman with the same sort of ability to interact with the general public that Ted Vibert had. I am afraid its perceived leader is not respected by the general public and again perceptions of his ability are that he has not in all his years in politics managed to do anything of any worth (same for others such as Paul le Claire et al).

JDA was initially launched as a Jersey Democratic Party, Democracy does not mean left wing. and the JDA has strayed massively from its initial set up, which is why the you see less than 40 members on facebook and probably not much more than that out of over 1,000 people who went to the initial launch. Such a  shame they can't see their own problems and weaknesses and address them in change.

It is a good point about trade unions.

You have to move with the times and I actually think the JDA are now out of step with “what is actually happening now“.

I think Socialism, especially in a low tax place such as Jersey, as an antidote to it’s hidden problems is naive.

And the votes speak for themselves.

You have to adopt to movements and I think the JDA will have to move forward like everybody else.

They were always anti-finance industry, but they are so dumb they just cannot see that finance is our lifeline.

I'm sort of in two minds about that issue. Finance has become so important because we made it become important. It's very much a Frankenstein's monster in that respect....because the day will come when it will want to go for a walk in the woods...

Without Finance the island would have continued to develop naturally, relying on tourism and agriculture, and the demographic would have developed accordingly - and right now maybe we'd be raking it in from the Internet boom, completely on our own terms, rather than handing our destiny to the bankers.

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuut...keeping matters on topic...

JDA was initially launched as the Jersey Democratic Party, Democracy does not mean left wing.

This is a problem I have with the JDA.  From my point of view they initially looked like a straight-forward, common-sense party. I had high hopes for them when they first emerged, really thought we were finally going to see a much needed breath of fresh pumped into local politics.

But digging a bit deeper I picked up something of a rather Communistic vibe, which is off putting. For me it not only suggests a party mired in a past and philosophy which has proven itself to have failed spectacularly, but conjures up images of misguided zealots working for their own hidden agenda.

With some radical modernisation, really pushing the "Democratic" angle of their name, they'll be in with a good chance of being taken seriously in the mainstream. But to carry on as they are now? I can't see them having much success in the near future.  They need an image overhaul, it's that simple.

This group is just a load of confused Tories. I think I may have to leave. YOu obviously want Walker and Le Sueur in power as you have burnt all your bridges with anyone who opposes them.
