I think someone needs to do some very serious work on this issue ! It is entirely unfair that our students have to be encumbered with debt (or their parents are) so that some twit in our education dept. can continue to glad hand the UK equivalent and promise to kiss ass for another few years ,costing the Island millions of pounds , whilst ,foreign students (which Jersey kids are part of) gain far more benefit!
It is atrocious that I have to contemplate ,once again ,paying 20k a year for my daughter to go to Uni !!
Not that self interest forms any part of this argument.
Bastards!!!
oh, and by the way in the meantime , Jersey will fork out double the amount for each of the chavs that get pregnant and "need" a space of their own to "care" for their progeny .....not that I,m at all bitter.

Spartacus I couldn't of put it better myself.  The education minister may be 99p short of £1.00, however he has no right to restrict the education of others.  I am also a student who has been failed by the local grant system and really do hope that the education minister stands for election next time, because I for one will be waiting at the hustings (with every other student I can find) to prove to the voting public what an incompetent twit he really is.

I wouldn't go that far!!  ???  I've been working for two years to help fund my living costs, my total "grant" was less than the tax I've paid them this year, in addition to this I have outstanding ITIS that I'm expected to pay from any earnings during the christmas and summer holidays over the next 3 years...  :( plus my parents have the burden of paying accommodation costs and international tuition fees as Jersey is useless at negotiation, or more likely didn't even bother trying.  So for the record, I'm entitled to my fast internet!

I agree with all you say, I was only being tongue-in-cheek about being a tax dodger (see smiley)

Before he was Alan Partridge, Steve Coogan did a brilliant character called Paul Calf - a Man City fan with a mullet who hated students, or as he called them, tax dodgers!

90% of students are, "Tax-Dodgers".

How many , "Students", actually pay back what they have been, "Granted", to stay out of employment for a few years?

"Meeja studies?", "Social studies?".

Couple of years off before joining the real world of ,"McDonalds", or "B &Q", for most of them.

1.81 and 0.32 coming back to this after two and a half years. My speeds have improved slightly, not dropped. On the other hand the last update of Internet Explorer maxes out my chip and runs so slow I have to use Firefox or Chrome now.
