I think people don't actually realise where we already get business from.  I deal with a lot of countries outside of the EU and nothing from America.  The other thing is that not all members of the EU have uniform tax rates anyway.

Some people who do not actually work within the industry do jump to conclusions sometimes!

It's not just a question of US nationals using Jersey to evade tax - we know that there are very few here, the major concern is that the US considers that anyone holding US dollars actually falls under their jurisdiction.

I always thought the idea of raising income tax should have been taken more seriously for high earners.  Why the 100K + club pays the same level of tax as somebody on 20K has always been morally wrong in my opinion.  It would have solved GST simply.

I've got to agree with you on that one, JTM.

I too agree with people paying income tax without a treshold. No deals to be done to the very rich, if they want to come here fine income tax 20%. I also think that should apply to social security no ceiling but the problem there is that everybody gets the same pension which would not be fair. How could they get over that one? ( it's a privilage to live in such a safe place perhaps ).

Simply up the pension for those who have paid in the most.

Or is that too simple?
