It makes no difference because they need voters.

There's been some sharp criticism in Jersey over a report which says Jersey could become an independent nation state if it wants to.

The report, issued over the weekend, was drawn up by a small team of officers headed by the Bailiff and including the Attorney General.

An investigation into what Jersey would have to do to gain independence began three years ago. There's a long list of recommendations including setting up a foreign affairs office and forming a diplomatic corps.

But the Jersey Democratic Association leader Deputy Geoff Southern says independence is a non-starter...

HAVE THEY CHANGE THEIR NAME NOW?

I can't help but think they've dragged out this independence clap-trap in order to try and distract us from all their blunders and mistakes, not forgetting the vote of no-confidence in the Council of Ministers.

I have visited the website and they are trying to brain wash young people into thinking that voting for independants is a waste of time.

If you look at the votes for all 3 of the JDA respresentives in the last elections they are as follows:

Geoff Southern - 547 votes
Judy Martin - 628 votes
Shona Pitman - 625 votes

Two other members did not get in at all.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/jersey/my_island/election_2005/deputy_live/blog.shtml

Now to me this is hardly an earth shattering number of votes and don't forget that Geoff Southern got hammered in the Senatorials.

I agree with the notion that this website has been built just to keep them in their jobs.  But they must be living in Cuckoo Land if they believe they will have any 'Power' after the next elections.

He was probably the own one who uses buses, so that would qualify him to be Transport and Tech. Services Minister.  ;D

Avoid! Labour has had its day in England and will soon be gone.  The JDA have no future ambition but to tax you and help the unions.

They do not love our fabulous, successful and energetic finance industry like Thatcher did.  They want to get us back in the fields diggin potatoes and talkin like the workin class.

A vote for the JDA is a wasted vote.  I rest my case.

Tory Boy :-)
