Would certainly be a good argument for slowing ecomonic growth! :)

It is already Dark in the mornings =sort of, so extended daylight may make it less dangerous for the kiddy winks at 4pm and the rush hour traffic home.

I can see the common sense in wanting to ensure that children are safe as I've a daughter of 5 but are there any statistics which can prove that when its dark there is an increase in reported accidents involving school children? I'm not being picky just trying to get some statistical evidence to back up a well meaning argument.

If only we had an environmental ecological economist to answer such questions!
websites seem to indicate little impact either way , the major downside appears to be (from a strictly Jersey Viewpoint) that we will be out of kilter with flight connections to and from the UK.
Another apparent upside is that people are happier when its lighter , I suppose the Swedish pattern of suicide rates during the dark period would support that view (Seasonally Adjusted Disorder  = SAD)

there should be no SAD adjustment here as we would still get the same amount of daylight. Sweden, Norway etc get considerably less.

Is that why they only send their students here in the summer?

I THINK THIS REFERENDUM IS A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND TAX PAYERS MONEY - THE FULL PAY COLOUR AD IN THE JEP MUST HAVE COSTS HUNDREDS - CONSIDERING A THREE LINE AD COST ME 150-00 FOR THREE NIGHTS!

EVEN IF IT COMES OUT AS A YES VOTE - HOW DEMOCRATIC WOULD IT BE?

THEY WILL BE LUCKY TO GET A 30% TURNOUT AND WHATEVER THE ANSWER IS THE FINANCE INDUSTRY, OR WHAT IS LEFT OF IT, WOULD VETO IT.

JIMMY PERCHARD LIKES CRICKET SO HE DONATED LAND TO PROVIDE A PITCH, LIGHTER NIGHTS WOULD  PROVIDE LONGER HOURS OF PLAY.

AS HE IS IN A POSITION OF POWER, AND OBVIOUSLY DOESNT HAVE ENOUGH FRIPPERY IN HIS ROLE AS HEALTH/SOCAL INSURANCE MINISTER, OR WHATEVER IT IS HE DOES..........HE DECIDES TO CREATE A BIT MORE WORK FOR STATES MEMBRS AND ALL FOR HIS OWN BENEFIT IN MY OPINION.

IS THIS WHAT WE PAY OUR POLITICIANS FOR?

CALL ME A CYNIC BECAUSE WHEN IT COMES TO THE WAY THIS ISLAND IS MANAGED - I AM!

Don't you think this is a ploy to get people to vote ? The population are at large apathetic, but put something contentious like changing to CET on the electoral form and people will react !!!!
You can't get good chinese takeout in China and cuban cigars are rationed in Cuba. That's all you need to know about communism

You might be right but you'd think they could have come up with something that would have engaged the electorate a little more?

I mean what about:

A reduction in the number of States Members?

The duel role of the Bailiff?

The formation of a single government for all the Channel Islands?

This CET proposition is just wallpaper designed to create the illusion of a society engaged in political debate IMHO.

Problem with any referendum is that the public need to be “educated” to both sides of the argument

There is more important things than Central European Time. For someone who is in charge of Social Services. J. Perchard. Should do his job by looking at tonight's J.E.P.22nd Oct Readers Column. A young girl of 16yr's  letter on how she now feels, even less hope of any future for her on this Island, Since the results of this election.Shame goes to M. Vibert and his paid puppies at Education, along with other members voting against local people and Island.s interests. And have a lot to answer for.
Youngsters not taught island culture,or politics, Not even told of hustings meeting for them to air their views e.c.t..What hope or future for this girls generation.Whose turn one day should be to govern their Island.
Hopefully, new Deputies  could make a difference too. By using the power of their votes on helpfull issures for us, Only way to overule G.S.T.Party on issures of no benefit to us or our youngsters.
