It will be like the Casino - a long time coming! I do think it is a good idea because in the not to distant future the number of impoverished and homeless people will have increased and they will need somewhere to sleep.................... so under the arches where it comes ashore will be a desirable residence!

You don't need a bloody bridge .

WHAT WE NEED IS COMPETITION ON THE ROUTE.

WHAT WE NEED IS A BLOODY DECENT FERRY SERVICE .

There's an island off the west coast of Scotland . The same distance as jersey is to France and they have a ferry that runs 5 times daily, without fail every week of the year. Population of this island 50,000.

Foot passenger fare £7.50 one way.

Why can we not have a ferry service like that ? Any ideas ?

ALVIN.

Does it carry vehicles?

Is passenger carriage subsidised by cargo (for example, fresh fish)

How much do the staff get paid? Much less than over here I would guess.

There's a few ideas why it might be cheap

No, but you pointing out that they've got something in Scotland for £7.50 doesn't explain why we should or could automatically have the same here.

As a potential candidate for election, it's up to you to find out how they do it for £7.50 and see if you can replicate that model in Jersey.

You don't mention that they have competition on the route, so saying "more competition" is not necesarily the answer.

I would guess that the Scottish route operates for £7.50 because we have a Scottish prime minister who will provide huge government subsidy to any such schemes in Scotland, to help buy votes north of the border. It's highly likely to be government subsidised.

Where is it by the way?

As a child I often drempt of a bridge to France, but you wouldn't think that payed states members woudl do the same do you? It is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard of. On a lighter note, is there any chance that a bridge to France would mean I can afford a house :P

What about a bridge incorporating houses along either side.

Each house could have a wind turbine on the roof, a wave turbine slung underneath and the drains flowing directly into the sea to feed the fishes.

I,d like to see that.
