The Howard D and friends from Jersey Heritage invited to party.
« on: January 05, 2012, 09:16:21 AM »
How much will it cost to send a very small boat from Jersey to the Thames, complete with transport costs, accommodation, overtime and meals paid for by taxpayer funded grant ?

The Howard D is an excellent and important historic boat which once worked as a fishing boat but is it going to wave the flag for Jersey amongst 1,000 craft of all sizes on a very crowded river,?

It is after all not the size of a Russian Oligarchs super Yacht. We have a family with a sick child desperate for funding and other financial holes that need filling. Is this really the way to spend the grant money provided to Jersey Heritage who have been telling us they have been getting better at watching the pennies by closing attractions over the winter?

Any one wish to bet that in this year's round of grant requests by the quango an increase in funding due to difficult trading will be required, but no mention will be made of nice but not needed Jollies to London. This may excite and float their party boat but the money could be and should be used on support for needy and maintaining Jersey's Heritage sites on Jersey.

BBC.
The Howard D, which was stationed in the island throughout the German occupation, has been chosen for the celebration in London.

It will involve up to 1,000 boats from across Britain, the Commonwealth and other countries lining up behind the Royal Barge on the River Thames.

Doug Ford from Jersey Heritage said it was a great opportunity for the island.

It wasn,t ,"Chosen", to be in this pompous maritime parade. Jersey Heritage begged for it to be allowed so they could have a Jolly.

"Simples".

Anyone else think that using the "heritage" word is similar to the line trotted out by health and safety types world wide "if it saves one life ,it will be worth doing"conveniently forgetting that you can cover every aspect of every subject in that manner , for example ,,, Several people have been killed in Jersey by the Police ,rushing to scenes of crimes.............therefore Police cars should be banned , if it saves one life you know!
Heritage are another self serving ,self propogating group of" our" money grabbers who play the heritage card at each and every opportunity.
As far as I am concerned True Heritage ,are facts, items, buildings which have been held in awe for centuries .........playing at being a country farm in st mary for no particular purpose (it certainly is neither self sustaining in ecological terms or monetary terms ) as an amusement attraction?? come on guys that is not heritage! Nor is running Duwks at a massive loss Heritage.Without being rude , I think that Heritage , tourism and Jersey Finance could all be combined ,losing 2 thirds of the staff and saving us millions.
PS dont get me started on the National Trust who are forever begging to be gifted land .......anyone aware of National Trust sites you can take your dog for a walk on?? Ithought not. Another bunch of alledged do gooders who play the ecology card at all times , but give nothing =zero back to the Island.

Please do not refer to my wife as a dog!
Thats Disgusting! The North Coast is not owned by the national Trust , which is anyway a British Institution. and i am very worried that those buggers will appeal agfainst everything and beg to be given everything until Jersey is owned by them , which to be fair would be a nice change from being owned by Dandara, speaking of which , where is ex Senator Cohen now deriving an income? Not that he actually needs one.

If you are referring to me and your wife being a dog then i am sorry but i was not talking about your wife but your dog that you cannot walk on Trust land. Maybe you mean Heritage land in which case i believe that there is no land that they own for that purpose because they own only property i think.
