The Euro its future, and your money.
« on: November 23, 2011, 12:21:02 PM »

AS usual I have read some of the mainsheets this morning and the general consensus is that the Euro or more accurately the Euro zone banks have large amounts of savings held by people who have homes or second holiday homes and these accounts are looking less secure.

I have friends who have homes in France, so I thought I would just flag up the possibility that in this uncertain economic grey storm, the Euro banks which are taking a hammering, in Spain through the burst property bubble, and Portugal and Italy are interconected etc etc.

The advice I am reading is only keep what you need in your Euro account. Should the weakend euro drop against the pound as predicted, purchases of the currence going on holiday will get a good deal. Home owners or sellers in Euro land will get a poor return or those returning funds to sterling will face bigger drops in real value.

This is just the thread running through several items I have read this morning so thought I would pass it on.

i  have  a mate in france , who operates  in a kind of barter system,  he  has a full freezer, and enjoys a simple life .
if i had spare cash i would by  some silver or a bit of gold  and brick it up into the  building if you want  to hide it.
malaysia or indoneisia  had  huge hyper inflation  a good few years ago  and  people went out to buy  goods as the  money became  worthless ,the tin of paint  held its value ( example).
thomas  cook  have been cap in hand to the uk goverment (  i think)  and look to go the same way as  de gruchy's.
imo, i think we will all   have to adapt to a more simplistic life , and  be thankfull we have food  on the  table , and a bit of heat cooking and lighting .
if you  are debt free, you will be ahead of the game .
2012 will be a very interesting year
