Well now what a turn up of the books with ILM saying that the whole of the investigation of the child abuse HDLG was carried out by Police Chief Power and Harper was done in the correct way and the reporting in the papers was very wrong indeed.
I wonder if ILM has been told to say this or does he really believe what he is saying. If he believe it, then why did he carry on in the way he did against Power and Harper.

@ Cheval Blanc.  Maybe someone has discovered that the full weight of the law lays behind the affidavits made by the Queen's medal recipient Ex-Police Chief Graham Power and the extremely experienced former Northern Ireland police officer Mr Lennie Harper.

I am sure the local bloggers, read worldwide, sympathetic to these men's causes and to the plight of the HDLG abuse victims have made a very huge contribution to what can only be referred to as  ILM's climbdown.

I believe that the 'spat' on Newsnight was the catalyst that increased the interest in HDLG and lead to the the popularity of the local blogposts allowing them to continue to prove, by timelines and statements, and educate, by good research, everyone as to what went on.  The Oligarchy basically shot themselves in the foot.  It turned the tide in the favour of the blogistas!  No amount of prayers uttered in a newfound church will save them.

I certainly wouldn't like to be in charge of our local government,  looking after a small population that is fast beginning to sour against our local society because of difficult working and economic conditions which are being exacerbated by an inefficient social security administration, a corrupt planning ideology and a treasury in which only it's CM thinks he knows what he is doing.

If there is a God then heaven help us and the people who are meant to be at the helm of this stricken ship to do the right thing!

Excellent post Calimachon, and should this be the case it shows there to be as serious split between the good and the religious and ...................lets just call them others who continue to try and cover up the truth.

It might be because Senator Le Marquand has received support from the Chief Minister that he has decided on a different road ?

Only five years ago the cover ups exposed by Rico and VFC would never have seen the light of day given the appalling reporting of Jersey's MSM. So by default it is obviously the Blogs and the internet input have made a huge difference.

The fact the Senator Le Marquand has re- thought his position is very good news, and he deserves credit he will also be aware that the two ex police officers standing behind their avid davits if found to be lying could face perjury charges and five year sentences at HMP. Mr Ogley, Gradwell, BDO Alto Jersey,  nor anyone else involved have been to keen to give evidence to a court of law where the questions would be far reaching.

Now we need to see a proper investigation including the main stream media's part in  “ talking up “ Mr Gradwell, and he also needs investigating for leaking confidential information to the  media, while the case was ongoing,. Was he paid by newspapers or their agents ?

Strangely Senator Le Marquand is happy for the debacle to rumble on because it will not go away. Just spotted this.

Senator Bailhache tries to scare everyone away with trumped up costs of £10 million. Why would  he do that, is it a personal issue with Stuart Syvret who has championed the  HDLG issue and children’s protection?

For the rest of the politicians and power players in Jersey's administration, please think about this.

BB, I read it completely the opposite, to me he is saying no further inquiry should take place because the prosecutions make it a no brainer that it should not continue. Maybe I got it wrong but thats what it read like to me.

Lawyer, Magistrate, Devout Christian Chess-Player.

I think ILM has had his ,"End Game", pretty well mapped out and planned for quite some time.

More ,Mr ,"Going to be", than, "Mr Been", methinks.

The fire grows indeed, and our Home Affairs Minister has just added to it.

Tried to post to your blog Mark, but I don't think successful. I do wonder if the prospect of the forthcoming (hopefully) fully transparent COI has any bearing on all this?

On Channel Report,Le Marquand says that digging should have stopped after a skull fragment was found to be coconut.
On Radio Jersey,Lenny Harper had chance to reply and totally disagrees, saying the fragment has never been positively identified as either human or coconut but what is 100% for certain was that childs bones were found.
Why all the focus on the fragment that might be something when the evidence of human bones is beyond dispute.

Hi GeeGee,
Your comment has gone through.  Yes it could be the COI and the realisation that some people are asking the 'wrong' questions and looking where they weren't expected to.
