Anyone know about this?
« on: November 04, 2011, 09:40:15 PM »
 ???

Just found this on FB.

How far back would you say June/July was??? Not long eh, say 4 months for arguement sake! Do you remember a certain Advocate being charged with Drink Driving?? 2 year ban and 90 hours community service was his punishment if my memory serves me correctly...
How many of you would be interested to know that he does infact already have his licence back!!!
Now if that doesn't spell corruption then I'd like to know what does??

I dont know this sketch. But when I was a young kid I lost my ticket over a silly mistake I made leaving Sands with a fine looking woman and a heart full of hope. Never done it again. Never will do. My folks got me the top brief at the time. But when I turned up at his offices I was told by his understudy that he was not available. The understudy was dilligent so I went with it. But he then told me that on the same night I got pinched the 'top boy' was also caught for the same offence, at the same spot. I went with the flow. Got banned for a year. Paid my fine and did my time.

Then I saw the cat driving his sports coupe about six weeks later.

But the message is still the same. Dont drink drive kids. It aint cool.

But...........................did the cat get the cream?

don't drink and drive, understood. What about the lady who is doing 5 months prison for not drinking and driving. Was at home cooking lunch with her mum and drinking wine, rather quickly, 1 1/2 hours later after  police knocked on her door, (after a anonymous phone call) took her to the station and charged her with DIC

She spent a shed load of money on an advocate because she believed she was innocent but Shaw did not believe such a slight lady could neck a bottle and a half in 1 hour. But she can and she did.  This women is a single parent with 2 teenagers at home.  Where is the justice in that!! she wasn't even behind the wheel.

Lawyer ‘humiliated’ after all-day drinking session
Saturday 21st May 2011, 2:59PM BST.

A JERSEY lawyer described his ‘humiliation’ at being caught driving while three times over the legal limit after an all-day heavy drinking session.

Advocate Michael Leigh Preston had drunk so much that the Magistrate said he was off the scale of sentencing guidelines and could have been jailed.

The 44-year-old partner at law firm Voisins told the Magistrate’s Court on Monday that the offence last Sunday was a ‘moment of madness’.

He was banned from driving for 30 months and ordered to carry out 90 hours of community service after pleading guilty to drink-driving in Gas Place.

Is it normal to reinstate a driving licence which is not essential for your lively hood after six months ?  When you have been banned for thirty months.  I take it that if this is true then a precedent has been set, and any-one can ask for the licence to be returned.  Which magistrate re instated the licence, and the reasons were ? and does Advocate Michael Preston have to re- take his test ?

good points  boat boy, lets see anyone who has lost their licence ,  appeal to get it back.
as  age of aquarius  mentions the lady doing five months , i have known a good few women , who could neck half a bottle  in ten to fifteen minutes , for the start of a drinking session , and  carry on for the next  shared six bottles , you just need the large glasses that  hold half a bottle or a tad less, did have some , but now all broken .
it sounds like there was a great deal more  of this  womans storey,  unless she came on here and told , first hand

That is very interesting, but not surprising at all. It's the usual Jersey Way of not what you know but who you know, or maybe who you know and haven't annoyed lately. As long as you keep you acquaintences sweet it appears you can do as you please. I hope John Hemmings gets his way, maybe then we will move towards laws that are the same for everyone and not just the ones without friends in high places.

Oh how sweet that would be!  Sorry the island has to wash its dirty linen in public though but if needs be.

Anyone would think that Jersey is full of corrupt and dodgy officials, civil servants, lawyers, accounts, politicians, judges, and police.

And they would be correct.

Let's be thankful we don't have an army, because they would have probably shot half of us by now!

Now that is just being paranoid - but to be honest I know how you feel, as I feel the same way!

I have been in a position where, as a young and naive housewife I consulted a very prestigious lawyer regarding a subject I won't detail here but when I left his office I was nearly convinced I was the guilty party but I knew I wasn't, because I was consulting him on behalf of someone else.  It is just the way these guys twist things!  They believe their own lies or fabrications.  I still had to pay this guy £500 for ten minutes of his hot air!  He went on to make a heavy 'wad' regarding a coastal deal and he wondered why and protested about the fact I wouldn't entertain him taking care of the rest of my family business on at a later date in my life.  I was well wised up by then.  You may try fooling this baby  once but I can assure you there is no second bite at that cherry!  Clue to the title of the office would be  allegedly 'Two thick planks'.   Could have strong links with a fictional character in a book about Notre Damn de Paris.  There are no prizes for guessing the name of the firm.  :-X sorry!

I asked Fritz for confirmation of the source and was told this at reply 3 above.

What is FB Fritz ? can you cut and paste so we can all view please, however if you are right then I found the article below.

I am sure Fritz is well intentioned and the story is probably true. I did  not realise that FB meant Face Book which is basically a social networking site.

Where is the proof Fritz ? because something is written on a social chat room this does not offer any proof.

I may be wrong but always trusted most of what I read on here because it is clearly documented by referring back to the newspaper or other source that’s supports the integrity of pj

Maybe someone reading this will offer confirmation from an official or reputable source,  the rules also confirm this.

From pj terms and conditions.

Fritz obviously did this but it is still hearsay because it reads as an opinion unless proved otherwise.

Is this not a good story for the BBC or other MSM to follow up,  using the freedom of information law as a public interest case which it obviously is, should it be proven to be true. Judges will not consider returning a driving licence removed for DIC unless a full year has passed.

I am no lover of so called citizen's media as facts are not checked unlike the mainstream media.

In this case the Advocate commutes on his bike as he has to serve the full term of his ban.

Some basic work and none of this conspiracy theory guff would suffice but I believe I am asking too much
