I am afraid I do not see a link between the legitimate question and your reason for asking it?  Surely the offences committed on a bus stop by the general public has nothing to do with the cost of providing the facility.

So you see nothing wrong with spending taxes placing a large bus stop there to alleviate traffic then allowing it not be policed properly so it serves its purpose?

I didn't say that Xenth.

I said that I fail to see the nexus between the cost of providing a bus stop and 7 - 8 cars parking illegally on it.

I really don't see that Deputy Lewis can 'allow' or otherwise the proper policing of a part of the parish.  He is not a policeman.

But he is the Deputy who proudly boasted that he had this Bus Stop installed to help the flow of traffic.

Doing civil works and costing the taxpayer money to convert a wide pavement to a Bus Stop that then facilitates cars and not the buses intended,  then to not request the Honoury Police or the Parish to enforce this? That smacks of what's wrong with this island no accountability, he is quick to use it in Election leaflets to get votes but when all is said and done Mr Lewis has spent Taxpayers money flattening an old pavement.
He has been in the parish as Deputy for two terms already and now heading to his third, he is assistant minister for TTS and in 6 years has managed to flatten a pavement.

The issue here is it seems to be thrown out on a whim in a election year to try and appease voters, but if you look at this closely it is in fact a waste of money. The Deputy has a constable and Honoury system he can work with but chooses to do nothing about governing the use of of this new lay by.

And FYI having lived my life in that district when has anything to do with parking for De La Salle and Beaulieu had anything to do with legalities they have parked on that road and got away with it even when someone had the courage to issue each illegally parked vehicle with a fine only for each to be revoked and the officer questioned?

...then to not request the Honoury Police or the Parish to enforce this?

Is he supposed to 'request' the police to uphold the law? Do the police do requests now?

I thought that was their job.

The honourys yes, the states police, i am not sure you could request much from them!

Ok so no one appears to believe in policing a location with large traffic volumes, supports what i have said then. A lay by was built to accommodate school buses  in  a last ditch vote winning effort by Mr Lewis, it doesn't work.

And to say you cant request Honourys to do policing i think you will find if an area is a problem and reported to the deputys or constable then they can request the Honourys to tackle the situation. It happened to the top of Wellington Road when the school run mums parked on the pavements the honourys were all over it.

Deputy Lewis has no more right or power to direct the operational strategy of the honorary police than you or I.  You cannot blame him for their failure.  I suggest you take that up with the Chef de Police or the Connetable - who is ultimately responsible.  Now that Hanning is departing you may actually get a positive response from the new Connetable.  To be honest, any response would be an improvement!

That does not mean that we, the public, do not share your concerns over the traffic, who knows, Deputy Lewis may have already raised his concerns.

You critisism that he campaigned for and achieved getting a bus stop there, but that there is an absence of effective traffic policing in the area is a non-sequitur.

I guess i just see it differently then, as someone who uses that road everyday i fail to see the difference of cars parking on pavements to spending taxpayers money to flatten a pavement so cars can park on it again.

Res i think i understand with why Jersey is in so much trouble if politicians get away with spending like this to gain votes and it isn't followed through its no wonder we are paying 5% GST.

All i am asking is how much it cost, Mr Lewis was the one who bragged about it in his campaign leaflets?

And yes i have an issue with Mr Lewis as a Deputy, not as a person, i do not feel he does anything especially as someone who has been in his position for 6 years and is now in for another 3.
