Nurses denied a 5% pay rise

http://www.thisisjersey.com/2011/09/01/nurses-denied-a-5-pay-rise/

Interesting issue considering that frontline staff like nurses and helpers who should make  your (which includes even the states members) hospital stay bearable or even pleasant are not being valued and appreciated by denying them  a pay rise for excellent hard work beyond their remit. That is poor people management !

Living costs in Jersey is much higher than the UK and in order to recruit excellent staff or even keep the local nursing staff an incentive such as a pay rise adjusting to increasing living costs and hardly affordable accommodation is desirable.

Considering the six digit golden pay-offs for former chief officers of Health and Social Services such as Mike Pollard, who resigned in 2009 which could have paid at least 10 new nurses and the same for the interim hospital manager Andrew McLaughlin’s salary which could have paid the annual salary of 12 new nurses etc., etc., it is a shame that investment into maintaining and recruiting excellent  health service frontline staff is not as important than paying trips to China for politicians( oh sorry as the Chief minister said " the costs are irrelevant in the greater scheme"

or loosing £8 million pounds in poor investment of taxpayer’s money!
