It does indeed have a whiff of Philip about it does it not? ::)

In this article Senator Le Marquand squarely lays the blame at the feet of the Treasury Minister.

http://www.thisisjersey.com/latest/2011/08/31/taxpayer-could-lose-8m-over-lime-grove-fiasco/

As does David Flowers with this parting shot;

http://www.thisisjersey.com/latest/2011/09/10/police-station-move-blame-the-minister/

And after a few telephone calls today to people who have a tendency to be 'in the know' about these things it seems that the tide has turned somewhat against the current Treasury Minister and he is cutting an increasingly isolated figure within the COM.

In respect of Lime Grove I have also been told today that Ozouf was 'visited' upon by two States members who felt the need to bring him down to earth.  They allegedly warned him that he was impugning the good name of two property valuers and was making the States liable to be sued for defamation.  So perhaps it is this alleged behaviour that has turned the tide against Senator Ozouf from within his own camp?  Others I have spoken to say that he has no support and is currently very vulnerable and politically isolated. Hence his cageyness in declaring his candidacy for Chief Minister perhaps? Who knows?

But maybe this does give some creedance to the wild speculation put forward that it was in fact Senator Ozouf that insisted Mr Ogley clear his desk once he was elected as Chief Minister? And maybe that is why the constructive dissmissal rumour is now doing the rounds?

Still doesn't answer the question why though?  ???

I hope rico asks him directly.  ;)

You have suddenly popped up with an angle on this that no-one has previously considered, but which makes perfect sense - when all other angles didn't add up.  You are either incredibly astute and just stumbled on this thread or you are in fact 'in the know' and have been keeping your powder dry all this time.

Or you could be wrong but have a nose for a different take on a problem.  My money is on the middle option.

It was no mere coincidence that the emergence of Sir Philip Bailhache on the politcal landscape was timed the way it was. It has been acknowledged within the members room for some time that the Treasury Minister has been playing 'out of position'. A cursory glance at this evenings JEP front page (and page 2) clearly spells out the agenda both from within the COM and their political allies on the senior editorial team.

The Treasury Minister has dropped the ball too many times and may have cost the tax-payer many millions on the way. At a time of such economic desperation it was only a matter of time before Cassius himself was knifed in the back.

The next Chief Minister will be Sir Philip Bailhache and Senator Ozouf would be best advised to seek another Ministry for the remainder of his term of office. After that his fate will be in your hands dear electorate.

So, he'll be the next Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs then. Sent overseas as much as possible for the next three years, kept out of the way until defeated at the polls.

I'd figured that one out the day he and Senator Le Marquand had their very public spat on the CTV sofa.

The next chief Minister (be it Bailhache or Le Marquand) will want a safe pair of hands at the Treasury. Step forward, Mr Ian Gorst (who, coincidentally, I saw walking from La Motte St towards Cyril Le Marquand House today - how spooky is that?  ;) )

Well said NewMac, nice to see him laying it on the line. Why such a vast sum I wonder? A tenth of it would be have been about right IMHO.

Bill Ogley must be Jersey's biggest benefit scrounger.

Took millions in pay, pensions, and pay-offs, in return for what exactly?  Zilch, as far as I can see.

It's odd isn't it, people get so upset when they read stories about a woman's handbag being snatched and invent all sorts of horrible punishments for them but when our own government gives half a million pounds to someone for doing sweet Fanny Adams...

Bill Ogley must be Jersey's biggest benefit scrounger.

The remaining question is why was he shown the door?

I assuming he was effectively sacked, because golden-handshakes are the usual method used to fire the rich.

Have people forgotten about Brian Napier QC and his report so soon?

Also, about Ogley going for Constructive Dismisal? ooppppps Shouldn't have said that, but hell its on this forum somewhere.

He also played a bloody huge role in shutting down the Child Abuse Investigation by getting rid of a Chief of Police and thats just for starts.

I wonder why he had to leave?  ;D ;D

He left with the money because if they sacked him he could have sang baby

Quote
Mr Walker – the president of the Policy and Resources Committee at the time – also revealed that Mr Ogley had been head-hunted by a UK council and offered a much higher salary than he was being paid in Jersey.

http://www.thisisjersey.com/news/2012/03/01/%C2%BDm-pay-off-%E2%80%98no-need-for-apology%E2%80%99/

So, if we are to believe Walker, he thought it would be right to give £500K to someone who was purportedly offered a job paying even more?

Why would Ogley need the money if he was in such high-demand, elsewhere?

But, we hear this BS frequently, from over-paid CEOs and senior civil-servants, "I could be earning more working somewhere else."  The obvious reply being - go ahead, and work there, then.

Next time, Walker, if you're feeling sorry for him, give him your own money.

Lol Walker in todays JEP is just so bloody funny. They can never except responsibility for anything.

Then he blames it on politicians.

This guy is a complete bozo. He then along with BO suspend a police chief in the middle of a child abuse investigation on bugger all. corrupt they are all bloody corrupt
