Ian Le Marquand to stand for Chief Minister?
« on: February 15, 2011, 04:33:58 PM »
Rumours abound regarding Ian Le Marquand's intentions to stand for Chief Minister at the end of this year. He is said to have made the admission to a member of the public at a recent scrutiny hearing. He has from the very outset said there is nobody fit for the role in the States. His handling of the HDLG enquiry post Power and Harper has been at best patchy whilst others have said his tenure as Home Affairs Minsiter has been a disaster, calling for his resignation. The fact that the public have still not seen the full Wiltshire report (with names redacted) despite repeated promises that it would be available back in the autumn is also problematic for him.

Would you want him to lead the Island?

An Emphatic NO
"Life gives to all the choice. You can satisfy yourself with mediocrity if you wish. You can be common, ordinary, dull, colorless, or you can channel your life so that it will be clean, vibrant, progressive, useful, colorful, rich". Spencer W. No

I honestly don't know who I would want as Chief Minister, but the COM and States needs a shake up, Policy has nothing to do with any States decisions it's all about personality and that's why the Islands in the mess it is.

I have approached  various  politicians on a personal level, sometimes for advice and occasionally for help. I know several of them personally and  you would be surprised how helpful and interested they are if you have an honest complaint or wish to discuss a subject.

I want to be part of the answer and not part of the problem so I e-mail some politicians who normally respond in a positive manner,  or actually not at all. !!!

In order to protect this website I will not publish the Politicians name. The only reason I am offering this communication ( and not others ) is because of the amount  of redacted documents and other  non transparent  government  spin the good people of Jersey have had to endure over the recent past.

Quote,

your comment is certainly very amusing. Please rest assured that I will be putting everything that I can out into the public domain as soon as possible. It will then be up to the public to judge the j****  and everyone else concerned. thank you for your encouragement.

Unquote,

I kid you not, nor do I fabricate.

I know it's not politically correct, but I simply don't trust people who don't drink.  In fact, as far as men are concerned, I couldn't trust a man who didn't get blind drunk at least once a year.  If you never let your guard down, it makes people think you have a dark and twisted soul.

Also, he looks like an older, fatter Mr Bean.  And appearances matter.

Very disappointed with ILM and no to CM.
Hiding so much which should be in the public domain never mind in the states members, cover up yet again i think. Following in the establishment's footsteps.

To sum up ILM in one word : Weak ! ( needs to drink stronger milk )
In hard times we need a strong leader who doesn't mince his words and that he is NOT ! ( He mumbles )

Emphatic Yes for the following reasons;

- he is the smartest person in the Chamber
- he is a poll-topping Senator and therefore commands a genuine mandate to lead
- having a vast-legal background he understands the way the law works, an integral role when leading the Executive Branch
- solid Christian values, always a bonus

If nothing else - who else would you rather see become CM?

You have asked a question Cyril,

I suggest far better candidates listed below not in any particular order, however there may be others emerging at a later date.

Mike Higgins
Roy Le Hérissier
Bob Hill
Phil Rondel

Moral compasses all accurate, individual thinkers, have business acumen, and not prone to herding like foot stamping sheep.

Definate no from me. We need someone who commands respect rather than commands people to respect him. Well, I know what I mean!!

Agree with Dylan a businessman would be better in my opinion also and when he needs advice on law etc he can refer to ILM if need be.

As for solid Christian values, and i dont mean this as a slight on Christianity or him but I would prefer someone without solid religious values in one religion fullstop. I would rather they be open to all religious beliefs. Maybe he is, I dont know.

Apart from Deputy Higgins that list is a farce, none have an island mandate,  only Deputy Higgins has any credibility having stood as a senatorial candidate. The others are just there for the meal ticket, Deputy Hill has not even engaged himself on panels or ministries which shows how unpopular he is with his colleagues, to suggest he becomes their head would it appear an impossible task!

ILM - No way !

Roy Le Herissier or Simon Crowcroft
We need someone who bring trust back to government
The same trust Frank Walker destroyed ( or rather shafted )
