A story from the BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-jersey-11824855

The telling quote for me being "The department (Home Affairs) applied to cover the shortfall as part of the Comprehensive Spending Review, but it was not considered essential by the council of ministers"

Errrr.......what?

shaun the sheep:
but it was not considered essential by the council of ministers"

Disgracefull comment

Fritz:
"Turkeys dont vote for Christmas"?

Chevalier Blanc:
Of all the excuses i have heard about not bring in a Sex Offenders list.
It will cost £2,2000 to add every name to the list because of appeals etc.
Now if you are found guilty of some kind of sex charge in which you are deemed to be a risk to the community then how on earth can you appeal. I know it is the right of everyone to appeal against any fine or sentence even if you know yourself that you are guilty of the offence that you have been found guilty of.
So please do not tell me tat everyone who is found guilty of a sex offence is going to appeal not top have their name on the list. They just do not want to have a list and one has to wonder why. Are they afraid that there might just be some high profile figures that may have to go on the register.

tonytheprof:
The estimate is £2,200 per person, but has anyone said how that has been calculated, as it is, after all, just an estimate?
