I hope to get to St Martin tonight, if I can get my weekend shop done. Would love to stay for a pint at the Royal after but home and bed will be calling.

Anyone else going?

Anyone got an online list of the nominations?

I was pretty annoyed at the unfairness in the reporting in the JEP yesterday. We clearly have 9 candidates standing for election and yet the JEP was clearly only reporting on the four it considers the favourites. These reports are used by many of the electorate to make decisions on who to vote for, as only a very small minority of ther population actually attend the hustings (and most of those are supporters of one candidate or another).

The other candidates are loosing the election now based on what the JEP are reporting. Lets take last night for instance. Paragraph after paragraph dedicated to Southern, Syvret, Le Gresley and Ryan and one paragraph at the end that could have just said, "and there were some other candidates who also replied to the questions, but lets just discount them, We don't give a hoot about fairly reporting".

Any one of those five candidates not getting their name up on the chip wrapper along with their views "could" be a good candidate (or if not, we should at least be able to make our own decision) but it seems that the JEP have already decided who they want as the top four. Very bad reporting and very biased towards certain candidates.

In my view, Syvret is being OVER reported, as the JEP seem to be worried that he and his followers will cry foul. The very first hustings in St Martin had one of Stuarts nominators (Mrs Perchard) from St Helier asking questions and then the majority of the reply from Stuart or in relation purely to Stuarts views or past actions. This is a hustings where all candidates should receive equal time both in the JEP and at the hustings themselves and the constables should be ensuring that it is their parishoners that are asking the questions and not followers of any particular candidate.

JEP reporting of hustings is notoriously badand  it would appear not be be on purpose but just very shoddy reporting. I would also add that a good candidate will get their message across one way or the other, as yet I have not read any of the reports.

Have they dismissed Gerard Baudains already? has he been usurped by the others?

I wonder what if any gimmicks we will have - crop circles, messages in the sand?

Attended St Lawrence and the topics had become more relevant and not like St Martin revolving around SSS. The start of the meeting Mr Whorrall was in mid flow and not on the best of form unlike St Martin and he got interrupted by the wife of Hugh Gill (as Whorrall a former candidate for Deputy in the Parish) she was very critical of him and said she had had enough of the dribble and asked for it to be stopped, the Constable gained order and Mrs Gill stormed out leaving her dummy behind. The rest of the evening was a bit anti climatic after this, and it livened up at the end when a Mr Manley at the back started on Mr Le Cornu who returned with interest and a little spat ensued.
I again had mixed views on most of the candidates, Mr Le Gresley had improved, Deputy Southern was very subdued, Mr Syvret repeated his previous stances in a similar vein to St Martin, Mr Ryan was again trying to be Mr Positive but did not come over so well here, what gets me is how he promises to improve the lot for the local working man and youth when he himself employs mostly foreigners.
By tonights performance it could be closer than I thought.
