Peter Whorall - Senatorial Candidate
« on: May 26, 2010, 11:42:51 AM »
Well I never - there's nowt as queer as folk! Remember I did a posting on Syvret's meeting at the town hall? I said this at the time;

Governance in Jersey and its many failures - report on the public meeting at the Town Hall earlier this evening.

Other memorable highlights for me were;

Another OAP, this time male, also went for Syvret’s jugular over his 6 months away, but was then was unfairly shouted down by the crowd. Later on a tiny man with balls of steel stood up and said he didn’t like the way the OAP had been treated (which was applauded) before launching, unannounced,  into a poem which basically said that Syvret was a legend and that 20,000 Jersey men where right behind him. It was rousing stuff! RAAHH!

Well it turns out the little guy with balls of steel, the chap who declared there were 20,000 Jersey men ready to stand behind Stuart Syvret in this bye-election, has chosen to run himself!  Of course he is fully entitled but it now makes it look to me at least that he used the meeting to get his leathery napper out in the public domain.

I can’t wait for the hustings at St. Martin’s. So many questions!

Well I must say he has improved, saying he was anti Stuart, he wanted to be a Senator for the job and money, he thought lawyers were too slow, States members were imprisioned three days a week and snowed with masses of paper and they would be better off out planting trees. I am really tempted to vote for the fellow again.

Hi Dundee

I don't remember him saying he was anti syvret but then again you were sitting down the front so could probably hear him better. This man also stood up at stuarts public meeting and read a poem giving his support.

What did you make of the establishment candidates?

Be honest now

I too was sat in the front, and my understanding was that the candidate said he was NOT anti Stuart. He was certainly in full support of Stuart at his Public Meeting, and it is a little difficult to be truly clear as to what he says sometimes.

However, for entertainment value (and I mean that in the nicest possible way), he gets 10 out of 10.

I thought Mr Ryan had all the qualities one expects of a car salesman, he was certainly saying what the mugs wanted to hear, I just hope enough see through his very questionable comments and stance of non commitable on the sensitive subjects.

Mr Le Gesley was in my view also a dissapointment.

Mr Le Cornu has improved since the last election but I disagreed with some of his stances

Mr Syvret said little new and although I agree with much of what he said, it is his manner that deeply concerns me

I did not see a strong enough opposition to Stuart so would put him as favourite.

Why did you vote for him? Was it an alternative to a spoilt paper?

Voisin and Dubras were pro waterfront and neither did anything for me. Meizbourhian came over very badly at the hustings due perhaps to a lack of confidence, but I have voted for her since.

Spoilt my paper once before, which was the only one in the parish that year.

You need NOTA on the ballot paper!

http://nota.org/

In any state with a binding "None of the Above" ballot option, the list of candidates for each office would be followed by the votable line "None of the Above; For a New Election", or something similar.
