Stuart Syvret and the HDLG farce
« on: May 03, 2010, 06:44:32 AM »

Interesting post in HDLG farce:

"The Diversionary Tactics of Stuart Syvret that have become known as the Haut De La Garenne Farce.

It might be useful to remind readers of the real Stuart Syvret in action and what happened, and then look at some of the decisions made during his administration of the Health and Social Services Department.

1: While Minister, the former Senator decided to close a number of wards at Overdale Hospital in 2006 and 2007 and outsource their facilities to the private sector.

2: the cost to the taxpayer was some extra £3.5million per year.

3: No staff at Overdale lost their jobs because of this strategy;

4: Rather than refurbish and upgrade publicly owned facilities, the former Senator Syvret was prepared to spend an extra £3.5 million a year of taxpayers money with English and Middle Eastern companies new to the Island, who have bought up old hotels to house Jersey’s ageing population and who most probably will not pay any local taxes;

5: The former Senator blames the Islands financial predicament on the last three decades of government as though he was a newcomer. He had been in office for nearly 20 years. Does he honestly believe that economic factors outside the Island had nothing to do with Jersey’s economy or the problems in any other jurisdiction? He is now complaining about legal costs he has caused both at the office of the Data Protection Commissioner and the Law Officers and other Departments. He has never commented on the costs racked up by his friend Lenny Harper and the whole engineered farce that was the Haut De La Garenne investigation.

6: He repeatedly complained bitterly that the health budget of £150+ million per annum did not allow the Department to purchase up-to-date cancer and other drugs. Perhaps when he was Health Minister, he should not have volunteered to cut £15million from capital budget as the HSS contribution towards the proposed £ 100+ million needed for the new incinerator plant.

7: The former Senator abandoned the Belle Vue project at Les Quennevais, which was to provide new accommodation for the elderly, sick, infirm and vulnerable who were suffering in appalling conditions in the old Leoville and Mc Kinstry wards at Overdale (his own description of a “Victorian slum”). The former Senator’s quick-fix answer to this was to decant the patients into private sector nursing homes at an extra cost to the taxpayer of £3.5 million per annum.

8: Then, when questioned by the Overdale Scrutiny Panel in 2006, how this situation had arisen, he attacked the whole Scrutiny process. That Scrutiny Report into Overdale states clearly that the former Senator was un-co-operative to a point guilty of obstruction. When the report was published, the former Senator then set out on a character assassination of States Members who were authors of the report because they dared criticize him. Those members were Anne Pryke, Roy Le Herissier, Deidre Mezbourian and Sean Power.

9: This man was Head of Health for some seven + years. Under his control, that Department spent and disposed of over £1 billion of taxpayer’s money. Has it all been accounted for? Where has it gone? Was the Health Department managed and run as it should have been? What has it been spent on? Why for several years, did he not co-operate with the Public Accounts Committee under the then Deputy Ferguson when they consistently requested information regarding expenditure at Health?

10: Stuart Syvret appears to be anti-everything. He is Anti-finance industry, anti-small business, anti-tourism, anti-rich, anti-anyone-who-earns-more-money-than-him. A pattern of jealousy has emerged that is obvious and this is also true of Deputy Tadier.

11: Do these two Bozos, Syvret and Tadier not accept that wealth has to be created before it is distributed and these two are not and never will be a wealth creator. They take taxpayers money. Both are ( one still is) spenders of taxpayer’s money and both receive a salary for doing so. They are both obsessed by the rich and both mention the rich very often in speeches. Most successful people have worked extremely hard, taken immense personal and financial risks to achieve their wealth.

12: Mr. Syvret has gone on and on about the Waterfront Development being built on a toxic waste dump. That has caused deep anxiety amongst many of the home owners down there who are now rightly concerned that if any of this is true, their mortgages and insurance policies may be voided. Yet, he and his Health protection Department , under his leadership, signed off some of the reclaimed land as fit for habitation.

13: As Health Minister or it might have been President had a public private partnership with Dandara Ltd. This scheme was never tendered.
He boasted about the fabulous deal he had with the development carried out on the Newgate Street site. A new Dental Clinic was built on publicly owned land in exchange for relinquishing the airspace above. That deal could be construed as naïve and poor for the taxpayer. Dandara built for the Health Department, a new dental clinic on land that the public owned, covering approximately less than 2, 000 square feet, probably at a cost to them of £300,000. Dandara in turn have built 6 flats above the clinic, which would probably cost them say, £450,000. Those flats were sold for over £1,250,000. That was good business for Dandara and full marks to them.

14: The former Senator has used the official government email system to attack States members, officers and the public. The States e-mail system is paid for by the public. It is impossible to justify behaviour like this whereby attacks are launched from publicly funded facilities. If the former Senator had been employed by any private company and behaved like this, the result would be instant dismissal. Why does he consider himself again and again to be above the law?

15: He has constantly attacked the local media, the JEP, BBC Jersey and Channel TV simply because they do not report his views on life, Jersey, justice and the world. However, he praises attack dog type reporting by bloggers and the so called Citizen media including the Voice mob.

16: He was the sitting Health Minister when during a routine operation in early 2006, a woman died. While this has been investigated, it was on his watch.

17: We now know that the former Senator, in his 7+ years in charge of health did not once visit any facility managed and run by the Corporate parents for vulnerable and abused children taken care. This also included facilities for children who had gotten into trouble.

18: This man now runs his infamous blog from a couch somewhere in London where he says he is in exile from Jersey Law and corrupt Jersey officials. His Google blog hosting service is in the USA somewhere, most likely Nevada. He has led everyone on a merry dance, PPC, the Data protection Commissioner, the Crown Officers and the Assembly itself. So far he has been untouchable and nobody has managed to close him down or bring him to account.. He has managed to avoid any interference from any part of the great machinery of government. However, some of those he has mentioned on his blog, be they States Members, the public or those States Departments listed above, have been working individually and together to bring the former Senator to account.

19: He now has a very good idea as to what is going on in the background. The law is sometimes ponderous and slow to react and get going. However, this is now happening and a day of reckoning will come soon for him. He will be held to account.

20: Therefore the former Senator may or may not be eligible to stand for the seat he vacated by his own non-attendance. If he is not eligible to stand, then that seat will be filled on the 16th June next. The former Senator will then choose where to live, what to do and how to defend himself.

21: if the former Senator were to win the by-election, a number of matters will occur. As in the above, he will then choose where to live, what to do and how to defend himself.

22: The litigation against Stuart Syvret is significant and rising. He will have more than one Court order against him. These actions will run into many tens of thousands of pounds, possible hundreds of thousands of pounds. In the unlikely event he was to be elected, it is quite a possibility that he would not be able to serve his term owing to the many civil actions pending. His term could be terminated by ill-health, financial problems or bankruptcy.

In conclusion, the former Senator’s future will be filled with legal actions of his own making. That is why the whole world of the former Senator is now based on the blog sideshows and attacking anyone and everyone that does not agree with him. This is well documented on his blog and his new blogsite.

He is becoming increasingly, a sideshow himself and he knows this. His own utterances are unsustainable and he repeats the same old turgid message time and time again.

However he may think it, his future is not now a matter for the former Senator himself and it will not be up to him to decide how all this ends. It is far too late for him to start making amends or for him to try reconciling himself to the community of Jersey that he has so demonstrably attacked and hurt.

His future may well lie in the hands of others."

I have never seen such a word-perfect statement. I have never seen so much research gone into a word-perfect statement for a first ever posting............... number 1.

A personal attack would you believe , on the wayward aukward one. Gosh it's even a properly numbered personal attack, and there have been hundreds on planet Jersey without numbers, words coming from the heart and mind from different people, from all walks of life, who are just saying what they feel including me old battling mate Sparticus. None of them look anything like this.

I don't like you Josie, you are a fake. These are not your words they are contrived and assembled like a car, they are not words from the heart, you should be ashamed. This is not what you really think. Do you take us all for fools ?

Is the Government getting that desperate.

Boatyboy.

Get a grip of yourself BB and go to the doctor – you need help.
If the shoe fits -
Taste of ones own medicine -
Pot calling the kettle black -
What goes around comes around -
There is no hiding from the truth -
The chickens will come home to roost -
----Syvret deserves everything he is about to get. There will on his return be an avalanche of charges pointed in the direction of the little sh!t ---
Vengeance will come to those who wait.

The main point about the posting from Josephine is that ,,,,,,and she points this out in the first sentence,,,,,,,,it is a quote from another site , therefore vitriol aimed at josie is vitriol in the wrong direction.
Please feel free to shoot the messenger though ,,,,it was ever thus.

I'm amazed that Boatyboy is naive enought to believe that the Government could construct such a logical, coherrent and grammatically correct statement in the first place.

Is this a clue that, Peter Mandleson, having seen the writing on the wall, will be moving to Jersey as an adviser to the "oligarchy"? I'll bet pip can't wait to sample that particular tower of power.

Apparently the "Breaking News!" is that Syvret is arriving at the airport at 13.30 today.

Let the festivities commence!

According to 103, Syvret appeared in Magistrate's Court this afternoon and was ordered to appear at the end of June. So much for him being banged up in La Moye!

It looks like the oligarchy are not going to play his game and make a martyr of him. He is now free to stand in the bye-election and see for himself just how popular he is with the majority of the Jersey electorate.

In a flurry of phone call’s and text's, some speculative other's well founded, I found myself caught up in the lightening heat of anticipation upon the imminent return of the ex-senator. Steeling myself from the day job with the thinnest of excuses I gambolled up to the airport, hair flailing in the wind, to be witness to this most unprecedented and unusual of spectacles.

Arriving in arrivals, both I and confused looking tourists, and the odd Swiss banker were greeted by a wall of accredited and not so accredited media. Oh the horror I thought, of being caught on camera, there really was nowhere to hide. Several friends came through the arrival gate and (having been on the same flight as Syvret) informed me that customs, uniformed police and CID like types where all furtively waiting in baggage reclaim eager to get their hands on Jersey's number one and most wanted traffic offender. Clearly Syvret had tipped them all off. Attaboy!

But we were all to be disappointed. No sooner was the customary Syvret rucksack slung over the shoulder and the sliding doors opened then we were only able to very briefly witness the most polite of exchanges before Syvret was ushered into the customs room stage left. Presumably not for a strip search – but perhaps they thought he might have his laptop with him!

By this stage I was hanging with the unaccredited media figuring they would have the inside track and boy was I right. More texts followed and then the news. The now ex Senator was under arrest and was being escorted to a specially convened hearing at the magistrate’s court. Then there was the inevitable time lag as everybody cued up to pay their parking fees. This was agony!

Upon my breathless but timely arrival at an empty court 3, save for a few hefty ushers and a very bored looking Christie Tucker, I sat silent in anticipation. Many of his supporters had made the journey and packed the ranks, some even fell of their chairs in excitement (no shit).

And then the moment of truth! A steely faced Bridget Shaw entered the court room and we were obliged to all rise nod our heads dutifully in her general direction. I did and felt a bit silly. Then the man of the moment was brought before the beak and when asked to stand flatly refused claiming he was unable due to an old motorcycle injury. This was high court drama in extremis. Nonetheless the charges were read out and, in what was the most dampest of squibs, a new court date was set for the 29th July. Yes that’s right a full two weeks after the election. It would appear that Syvret has a clear run at it and the oligarchy have not conspired to make a show of him. Yes that’s right, “he’s out on bail and out of jail and that’s the way it goes – white lines!

And then the final curtain – his court room exodus. Standing on the pavement outside the press pack jostled for position awaiting a few well chosen and vexatious political bombshells. But there were none really. He flatly refused to talk with the JEP, CTV and BBC and went straight to the other 3 lettered media outlet VFC! If only there was a KFC nearby! Making the briefest of statements, which I could not for the life of me hear because a pro-freight lorry had pulled up alongside, he wondered off down Old Street and it was all over. What little there was spoken you will doubtless witness on the box and internet tonight but be under no illusion, this was the biggest anti-climax non event nothing to see hear now move along please event of the week so far.
