I found an interesting post on the hdlgfarce blog where the blogger has asked the other politicians what they think of St Stuart. The one that did take the time to reply and give an honest opinion sort of sums up my own views (though I knew nothing of the cheap Merc) and I thought it was refreshing to hear the truth from one of our elected rather than the namby pamby spin doctored replies we usually hear.

Well done that member.

Copy Below (well I thought I may try some of this cut and paste that syvret supporters are so fond of).

In order to give readers an insight into Mr Stuart Syvret’s career in the States of Jersey and thoughts about his future we decided to put a selection of three questions to a number of States Members this week. The questions were simply along the lines of Stuart Syvret, what do you think of his work? What do you think of his behaviour? What do you think of him now? What we found was that some States members just said that Mr Syvret was history and they did not want to know. One said that there were much more important matters to discuss than Stuart Syvret and a couple were keen to tell us what they thought about him. So for our second post on him, here is a response we had on what one colleague thinks of him:

Quote
1) The Health and Social Services Department:

It is quite clear in his years as Health President that Stuart Syvret had great interest in specific areas of the Health Department (HSS) and little or no interest in other areas. It is also clear that the efficiency and performance of many parts of the Health service declined over many years, at least four of those while he was Committee President and then Minister.

Indeed, there has been a deal of investigation into the running of HSS on the Island in the past number of years. The States is now on it's fourth Health Minister, the Deputy of Trinity, following the replacement of Senators Perchard, Shenton and Syvret in less than two years. The Chief Officer, Mike pollard has "retired" . A new Chief Officer is being parachuted in from Norfolk. There have been major reviews of the Department in the past three years.

In addition, there was been a major SOJP investigation, a serious case review and the Williamson report. There are failures identified in the Primary Health care side of the Hospital and on the Social Services side. Both are now being rectified. There has been so much political upheaval at Health. The new Health Minister has an incredible task. She has to turn round a Department that appears to have many failings and shortcomings. She must be allowed to get on with overhauling and improving a Department that is fit for purpose. This Department did not suddenly get into the state it is in. It happened over a period of time. Recently, there was a call by Senator Breckon's Scrutiny Panel to have a Committee of Enquiry into the Health Department. That was rejected. The Minister needs to fix the problems at HSS, politically and management, move on and get it to a place in Jersey life where it is held in high regard again.

None of the previous Health Ministers or Health Committee Presidents were minded to do that and Senator Syvret as Health Committee President for almost five years from 2000 to 2005 showed not the slightest inclination to express the need for a Committee of Enquiry on his seven year tenure in charge of this Department. He only started expressing concern for a short period in 2007 before the States voted to replace him as Health Minister. He appears to have been a contented member of the Council of Ministers for all of 2006 and some of 2007. Some children were taken into care because of the break-up of the family unit or because of bereavement. Many others ended up in care because the system picked them up owing to the appalling dysfunctional behaviour of the parent or parents. The system did fail some of these. That must never happen again. There are ruined lives out there. What has happened has happened. It was and is inexcusable and unacceptable.

Going back in time, liability must be apportioned to the political leadership as well as management at Jersey HSS because the elected head of the Health Committees and latterly Ministers have also failed some very vulnerable younger members of society. Some of the political leadership and management that allowed these appalling decisions and actions to be carried out then are either retired now, have left the island or are dead. In terms of the public good, there will only be a small limited success in hauling these surviving people and perpetrators into the courts. However, many good stories have also come out of Jersey's care system. Good work is carried out on a daily basis. So, while bad has happened, it does not mean the whole system has broken down inexorably.

2) His Interpersonal relationships with States Members and attacks:

The former Senator was a difficult man to get to know. He was difficult to approach, talk to and relate to. Once the personal attacks started, many States Members tried very hard to build bridges with him. He rebuffed most approaches of friendship. He was and is a loner. His personal attacks over the past two years and recently are directed at a long list of people in the States and in the Crown Officers. It is extra-ordinary. What is equally extra-ordinary is that he seems to be able to access internal police documents at will.

One can only hazard a guess, but one must come to the conclusion that somebody that may have served in the SOJP kept a number of confidential documents relating to the Haut de la Garenne investigation and the historic child abuse investigation in their own personal possession and that this somebody is in constant contact with the former Senator. The former Senator has vilified the former Bailiff, the current Bailiff, the new Deputy Bailiff, the new Attorney General, the new Solicitor General, many other officers in Chief Ministers, HSS, Education, Home Affairs, SOJP, Data Protection and individual States Members and former States Members.

In a recent post he has asked for the jailing of the Chief Minister and the Treasury Minister. He has attacked the deceased husband of the Health Minister and he attacked the recently deceased Advocate Lakeman. He has attacked former members of the States. He has also recently attacked the Dean, Senator's Shenton and Perchard, the Constable of St. Mary and Deputies Duhamel, Hilton and Power. He has repeatedly dismissed all members of the Assembly as corrupt, useless, half-wits and in his opinion, unworthy to be in the Assembly. Therefore, under the former Senator's own rules of engagement, almost everyone in any position of authority is out of step except, of course, the former Senator.

In his virtual world of blog life, the world of Jersey life should revolve around his agenda. It does not matter that he was partly responsible for the mess the Health service is in. It is everyone's fault except his. No blame can ever land on his shoulders. In his strange way of looking at things, his role in life to apportion blame and be judge jury and executioner. He displays similarities with some hideous historical figures. However, the former Senator fails to realise that very few in Jersey pay scant attention to his utterances. So, the former Senator sits in high dudgeon in some place in the UK, in exile because he alleges the whole justice system in Jersey and Westminster is corrupt. It would be like someone in Somerset going to Cornwall as a political refugee owing to the corruption in Somerset.

He sits there on someone else's couch dispensing his view of life in Jersey and absolutely certain that he has the wisdom of Solomon. He has a small infatuated group of fans that hang on his every utterance. He is becoming so far removed from reality and will be even more so soon.

3) The By-Election:

The former Senator has had himself expelled from the Assembly for non-attendance. He has now declared that he will return and fight the by-election he has caused. He has to find out from the Royal Court as to whether he is eligible to stand. He is facing a minor driving licence offence and allegedly some serious data protection issues.

There is a view in part of the Assembly that a strong candidate, most likely an existing States Member, should declare that if the former Senator is legally allowed to run for the position he recently was expelled from, then that Member would challenge him head on and on his performance, behaviour and exile. So, the question is this ? What has actually changed in the former Senator's life that he feels he can come back to the corrupt oligarchy and reclaim his seat. Could it be the money ? That runs out on the 19th May Has he made a plea bargain with the Attorney General, a man he consistently insults ? unlikely.

What about his partner in Grouville ? Is that his ex-partner ? Who knows ? Perhaps he needs a holiday and the previous six months absence did not count ? Maybe he misses his comfort zone ? Maybe he misses his workshop in Grouville and his Mercedes Benz that he was given at a knock down price by a former colleague ? It is probably a combination of things. He will want to turn the by-election into another Jersey farce and attack anyone that dares stand against him.

There are no Queensbury rules in the former Senator's book of life. Attack, Attack, Attack. No doubt, if he is allowed to stand, he will have his henchmen do their utmost to intimidate, coerce and bully. Yes, Nick le Cornu will be there with his motley band of followers, and the blogger McMurray, Time for Change Tadier and his attack dog politics. "it was not me"( www.mikevibert.com) . "I don't get drunk when I drink (all the time) and I don't sleep in the Chamber (often). So, good speed to the Assembly Member that takes this lot on.

May those God fearing, reasonable, law-abiding, tax-paying members of Middle Jersey send the former Senator a powerful message of defeat and then on his way to that strange place he loves to be in, his virtual cyber world of conspiracies, corruption, oligarchies and above else that strange toxic place that he loves to mention so often, the Jersey that he thinks in his own mind exists.

To be honest Deputy Dawg I have read a bit of that site and it's (just as maybe as SS's is) completely biased. I wrote a post on there to do with the guy saying how he is talking the talk but hasnt got the bottle to put his own name up, no swear words, nothing insulting but simply to the point. It didnt get posted. I tried again saying that I dont believe he is interested in posting other peoples points and once again, not posted. I note only one out of the couple of people keen to vent their voice about him was posted, would like to hear what the other one (he did say couple) had to say.

Now when compared to the SS's blog (God, I am only too happy to admit its a difficult read) he does two things different to the aforementioned, first he uses his real name and second so far as I can tell a lot of posts against him are posted up for comment also. Maybe not all but at least some. I find this farce blog a farce as the posts are often from people purtaining to be people on here or pseudonyms of people who post on SS's blog, so which blog is the most farcicle, my money goes on the hdlg farce blog.

To be honest I dont even know why I am defending the SS one, I am not intending to it's just that I see the farce one as being made because someone has a grudge and cannot bear this grudge. It's more like a war of the blogs than anything more meaningfull, so it is a pointelss blog.

Oh, I hope you are referring to the one written by a bloke going by the name Gazza or I have just spouted a load of drivel based upon the wrong site but you didnt give a link so I just presumed!!!
