With thanks to the Farce Blog, and in the words of our esteemed Rico , 'this has to be put out there'.

Time for Change Candidate Nick Le Cornu's nominators for the 2008 Senatorials. You know this party that really milked the historic child abuse story as a spring board into politics? Even mentioned the protection of children and young people in his opening speech at the town Hall read out by Neil MacMurrey of all people! http://www.isthisjersey.com/news.php?item.644.4:

Well recent convicted child abuser and rapist LEONARD MILES VANDENBORN is named as one of his nominators what a fine choice!

THE NOMINATION PAPER OF NICHOLAS BASIL LE CORNU READS:

PROPOSER: NEIL MCMURRAY
SECONDERS: GILBERT WADE BLACKWOOD
GIFFARD SAMUEL AUBIN
BARBARA DE LA CLOCHE
RAYMOND MC FARLANE MC CREDIE
LEONARD MILES VANDENBORN
AUDREY LOBB
MICHAEL JOHN D’AUTHEREAU
ENRICO SORDA
WILLIAM GRAHAM PROUSE

Perhaps 'Voice for Child Abusers' will be the new addition to your stable of fine publications. Or alternatively we might never have to hear from any of you ever again now that any credibility you might have had is now gone

Please moderators never ever ever remove this post from 'FOREST'

I have thought how best to get my point over many times, then like a guardian angel Forest nails it in one.

That post sums up the cancer that runs deep in some peoples thinking, Forest if you really are a decent human being put your real full name to it

I thought you'd pissed off in a strop to start your own blog. When my name appears on the proposal sheet with a convicted child abuser, I'll take some notice of your criticism. Until that day, nothing you say or print has any worth. You are in the wrong, whatever way you look at it, along wth the other pious idiots from that list who have spent 3 years harrassing innocent people. I find it sickening just to read your name now, given your evidenced past associates.

Oh Forest - How you can't see the wood for the many, many trees!

Why should anybody be guilty by association, and if that is your very shallow reasoning, why are you not questioning the other 7 people named as seconders. You can't cherry pick to suit unless you are as petty and blinkered as you appear.

Chronology, Forest.
Had Vandenborn's conviction predated his appearance on Nick's nomination, you would have a point. As it is, it looks like Vandenborn was pretending to be against child abuse to deflect suspicion. If the police didn't get him until 2010, why should mere political contacts have been in a position to know his darkest personal secrets back in 2008?

it was for sexually assaulting a sleeping woman on a car ferry.

it was public knowledge at the time.

I have encountered him several times over the years on a professional basis and found him to be a rather overbearing and arrogant man

Whatever he's done, he deserves the presumption of innocence until proven guilty. Although he was accused of a crime he was able to appeal against it. The fact that he was later found guilty of assaulting two other women might lead you to believe he was guilty of the original offence but ultimately it proves nothing either way - nor does your opinion of his overbearing nature.

I would question the quality of standards of what one calls acceptable behaviour from several others that signed that paper, the fellow stood at the hustings questioning the accountability of others what a pity he did not scrutinise those signing his paper in such a way.

I worked for the same company as Vandenborn 10 years ago, rumours about his past were abundant then. Does that make me guilty of child abuse by association ?

I agree with Bentos, he wasn't/isn't a pleasant person to be associated with.

You can't get good chinese takeout in China and cuban cigars are rationed in Cuba. That's all you need to know about communism

Considering he stands convicted of molesting two little girls I doubt any of us will be standing him an ale anytime soon. I don't want to sound too libertarian about this guys but I've served in countries like Afghanistan where someone's grandad presided over kangaroo courts where you could lose a hand for the most pathetic of crimes such as petty theft (everyone was so poor it was pretty muc a foregone conclusion that something would end up getting stolen by some poor desperate bastard).

I've been speaking to a buddy who was in the civil service at the time, which is why I said we can't be sure either. Apparently Vandenbourn actually did six months for indecent assault and actually served his sentence pending appeal. Nevertheless he persevered and was able to clear his name for want of a better expression. Although I admit it harldy helps his case, i don't think we can just go accusing him of that crime without proof just because he's a scumbag.

Let me know what you think anyway

What pisses me off is this guy (who I worked with 29 years ago!!) had the authority to audit others! What he had done before was in the public domain then. He was a bully and each time he entered the room used to smack me round the back of the head with a rolled up newspaper or shake down a wet brolly over me.

They say there is no God, well I'm turning all religious now because believe me I prayed for him to get his comeuppance!
