I see your point Deputy Dawg, I was merely relating to areas in which they could possibly be trained rather than where they should be utilising previous knowledge in their field which in this case one person obvioulsy cannot. But then same probably goes for most positions. I just think that there are some training  courses that could improve things a bit, another would be presentation skills. Ah, perhaps I am just being naive, just because I have managed to take on board different lessons/views/ideas (cant think of the correct word!) from various training courses I think our politicians are equally able to gain something, although in Paul Daniels words it would probably be "Not a lot"!

I think anyone involved in planning decisions should be able to at least understand Architects layout drawings.
I know of developers being forced to produce scale models of sites,(Sometimes costing thousands of pounds), to show how a development will look.
I,m not talking about the models used to show the general public how a proposed development will look as a PR exercise. I,m talking about the Planning department requesting new models each time a developer alters a layout to suit Plannings requirements for sites that have already received outline permission.

Well one of the useless managers from ann engineering department and he was useless at that was moved up to the planning office and what he knows about building etc a pin head would still be to big to write on with what he knows. Sidelined from his engineering job because they finally realised that he had cost the department a few million pounds on totally the wrong equipment for certain jobs. So many compliments coming from the staff and outside contractors they had to move him out of it, sidelined him. I say sack him.

I was told that what ever the Governor saves from his over inflated wage he keeps and their normal savings are about £500,000 over there 5 year term. Remember their wage does not pay for all the parties they hold etc. It is their golden hand shake from retiring from the services but only the lucky ones get it.

The Governor is paid and employed by the Crown and not the Island, I stand to be corrected.

I always thought the Governor was paid by the Crown, but it looks like his wage comes from the tax payer.
