Excellent point Colonel.
He stands or he does not , he wins or he does not and that indeed is the nature of democracy. I think that in order to win he will have to prove himself correct on at least one of the many allegations he has put up on his blog. Most people I know across all strata of society think he has lost the plot. It would be interesting to hear what he will have to say to resurrect his career.

SSS' latest blog reads like the opening paragraphs of a 1950's cheesy mid-western novel or a suicide note. Using prose worthy of Leonard Cohen, of "music to cut your throat by" fame, SSS is getting into self pity, remorse and depression. It would appear that Deputy Labia has finally given him the boot as he is blaming the oligarchy for ruining his relationship with his partner. I suppose it is easier on him if he blames the "Oligarchy" rather than face the truth which is that the lusty Princess Labia has her own political career to think about. Besides which, there are more romantic things to surprise your lover with from under your pillow than a hammer.

Overall, SSS is starting to give the impression that he is finally running out of inertia. He knows full well that if he returns to contest the bye election caused by his removal from the States, he really doesn't stand a cat in hell's chance of winning. Assuming of course that he is allowed to stand due to his prolonged absence from the Island.

In some respects it is a shame because even his strongest critics harboured secret hopes that he might have a case and could "stick it to the man". There have been several convergence points in SSS' career when, if he had just kept his head and stuck to his guns, he would have made a difference. Each time, either through lack or courage or lack of intelligence, or both, he has failed to follow through. The most recent example being his decision to seek exile in the UK rather than deal with a couple of minor, technical, charges and continue the fight from a position of authority within the system.

It is time for SSS to accept that he will not be the one to lead us out of the politically repressed dark ages that is life in Jersey today and  to pass the banner to a new champion. Any volunteers?

Regardless of what people believe, he's had a year now to back up what he says - the truth is that neither he nor anything he has to say matters - it really couldn't be simpler folks, we are the people of Jersey, he's not. That means we get a say in how the island runs and he doesn't - I don't want you to feel I'm trating you like preschoolers but every CI blog I see is in meltdown because of this man - why don't we talk about something else? Anyone else here up for soe fishing? :-D

Jack.

I must say that I think that the States of Jersey has really gone too far this time!

It is crystal clear that the States is in collusion with the Icelandic government to prevent The Saint from returning to his hallowed land. How on Earth can they justify causing a major volcanic eruption, closing the air space around these hallowed isles, just to prevent The Saint from returning home.

Of course they will be defeated as he will only need to hoist his robes and walk across the Channel. Who needs air travel !

They will be sorry when he touches the golden sand with his blessed toes.

An anagram of Eyjafjallajoekull? I bet if you play is backwards it says "no return for stuart".

You couldn't make it up.

I see that SSS has, today, changed the name of his blogshite to "Ex Senator Stuart Syvret" presumably in fear that the States of Jersey might bring an action under the Trades Descriptions Act if he left it unchanged.

He will now, according to his blog, be returning to the Island some time next week no doubt hoping for a reception somewhat similar to the one the Beatles enjoyed at JFK. Given his profile, he will probably get a one minute slot on Channel Report. I think that he also expects to be arrested at the Airport and dragged in chains to Le Moye. I am willing to bet that nothing of the kind will happen. If he publishes his arrival time and date, he will probably be met by a Viscount's officer who will serve him with a summons to appear in Court the next day. No drama, no news. If he subsequently fails to appear, he is likely to be arrested but that will not be in the full glare of the media. He could, of course, force the issue by kicking off at the airport and getting himself arrested on another charge but I doubt he will do this. Firstly he hasn't got the guts and secondly it could effectively exclude him from running in the bye election.

Anyway, we could all do with a bit of cheering up in these dark times and what better than to learn that the Circus is coming to town!

I do hope he publishes the date and time of his journey - I'd like to be there to witness the non-event.

OOh yippee! I love the Circus!

Whose the ringleader? who are the clowns? I bet Freddie and Mikey dress up as  seals balancing a model of the insanerator and tossing it between themselves. Is Terry really the Harlequin? Look who's that in the Highwire in a tutu?? Golly it's the Blessed himself, and without a safety net too! Aha I see the clown car now, yes it's a Police car! Woohey! We really do need cheering up! Damn this light thing I paid a fiver for has gone out! What's that smell?
