So you reckon, Vlad, that sticking up for paedophiles, will get more folk to join PJ?
I doubt it very much.
Well, there's nothing like a bit of controversy Fritz, my mother always said if you can't be famous, be infamous! That said, I also 'doubt' you would be able to provide a copy of any post I have made on here wherein I condone child abuse.
No one here has supported paedophiles.
The issues I've been talking about are how to effectively reduce child abuse and how to protect the innocent who are accused of this crime. I noticed that when I wrote to the JEP and listed sources which showed that longer sentences and capital punishment actually exacerbated crime, everyone seemed to agree as I was talking about drug related offences, even though my sources were independent of the type of crime caused.
My point was and is that when the issue of child abuse comes into play, even quite reasonably minded people start foaming at the mouth and start raving on about how much they want to torture everyone who's accused of this crime to death.
It's possible such people believe that they're somehow proving their worth by showing their willingness to castrate or eviscerate others, however it always brings to mind for me the Bard's immortal words:
Methinks the gentleman doth protest too much. Perhaps you feel you have more to prove? :-)
Irrespective of the fact that torture and execution are not effective deterrents, my other point was and is that even if we decide that you and your kind are a shining example of profound moral values in your desire to mutilate other people's genitals, you still have failed to address the issue of how we can detect the crime in the first place.
It's an issue which the redneck crowd on here seem to feel is irrelevant. What I've been suggesting is a more proactive (and dare I say aggressive) approach towards educating children in how to respond to situations where they are not comfortable, what actually constitutes a crime and how to report it responsibly. I also suggested much more far ranging methods of gathering intelligence, particularly with regard to electronic surveillance. I know they have the means to do this as I had a hand in the software they use to monitor people's online activity.
I am pleased that people like yourself are on here because they prove my point that some become so worked up when they think about this category of crime, that issues like prevention and justice for those falsely accused are sidelined. Moreover anyone who can keep their head screwed on and come up with some non half-brained measures to help reduce this ongoing problem is apparently siding with the criminals themselves (though once again I notice no one has accused me of taking drugs or supporting drug dealers so far!).
I make no apologies for the fact that I came to Planet Jersey to discuss this issue because I believe it underpins much of what we do in our island. Partly it also has to do with the fact that I was falsely accused of a crime of this nature and it took almost two years to fully clear my name, in ways which would not have been necessary had I been accused of theft or violence for example.
The fact that other posters besides yourself can keep a level head and talk about these issues analytically and sensibly rather than fly off the handle is a testament to them having a measure of intelligence and common sense. I'll leave it to everyone else to decide whether the incitements to torture and murder your fellow rednecks have posted will encourage more people to join the forum, but obviously if everyone was happy with what more prolific posters like yourself were saying, this thread wouldn't have been created in the first place.
