James Street meeting

There is a meeting at the Town Hall on changing James Street to a Madeiran name, Rue de Funchal of something.  I doubt I will be attending because frankly I just have better things to do, but seeing as James Street is one of the scruffiest streets on that side of town, personally if I were Maderian I would take offence.

To honour the contributions one of our most frequent contributors has made to Planet Jersey, to the Island, to community relations and to humanity in general I propose that James Street be renamed Rue de la Guêpe .

Couldn,t give a flying wombat about street name changes.
Like pubs, streets will always be known by their familiar name by those who frequently use them.

Totally pointless waste of money.

It's a crap gesture and unnecessary.

Why don't they have a meeting about something more worthwhile like putting up some touch screen tourist information booths around town?  When's this island going to move forward ffs?

It means for f**ks sake.  It's lazy, youthful exuberance, in it's purest form.

I can't believe they're renaming the worst road in town, as a token of friendship.  I can't believe I just heard about it in the news. I can't believe I'm posting on it.  This island really is a huge steaming pile of shit.

Well Crowcroft says they will smarten the street up, but the fact will remain that it is just a backstreet where Maderian's go to get pissed, fight, and fall over.  So, whatever they do to smarten it up, those Maderian's who don't drink will never be happy about it, I'd imagine.
