I can see where you are coming from , but the problem is not as simple nor the people , as you suggest.
People get sucked in to a mindset , as I was discussing with an ex manual worker from Bellozane.
Basically , it is if you are employed by the States and a Union member you are untouchable, you can do as you like and say as you like and unless you are grossly negligent (or extremely, I mean extremely seriously crap, like killing a fellow worker) you cannot get fired.Otherwise the UNION will fight your corner and make sure you are reinstated and payed back pay (probably a sufferance allowance as well) even if if you are the crappiest driver, pisshead ever employed.
I think we should ask Mr Stenniford to make another mark in the side , no pay rises for manual workers , reduced hours over his dead body!
The manual workers , and we all know a few ,and they are not stupid ,are taking the absolute micky and they know it,unfortunately their Union Rep does not know it yet.

The best way to get rid of states manual workers is natural wastage they all have retire at 45 and there should be about 100 workplace deaths a month. That should get rid of them all quite soon.

Public sector workers, manual and management alike, are parasites.
None of them would survive in the private sector where folk have to justify their existence  by actually producing something other than a filled in time-sheet.

Two, "Immigrant workers", could replace any five currently employed by ,"The States/Parishes", and be happy to actually do a fair days work for a fair days pay.
