Quote
UP to 180 jobs in Jersey are to go at the Lloyds banking group – just under a third of the 600 the group employs in the Island.

Jo Dawson, Lloyds' wealth and international director, said: "Regrettably, there will be an impact on some jobs as a result. We are committed to working through this process carefully and sensitively with impacted colleagues."

"impacted colleagues"?  I think Jo Dawson will be needing some training in sensitivity before she starts sacking people.  Someone buy her a dictionary!

One of the biggest is Ogier's new HQ and lo and behold they are making a few redundant!

I don't think there is any sensitivity there. If you read the report of the "whistleblower" who warned about the excessive amount of loans that were going through HBOS and was sacked for it in 2005, she is nothing more than a glorified saleswoman with no Financial experience. How many banks are now run by salesmen and not financially trained employees?

Well spotted!  Why am I not surprised that she is one of the HBOS lot?

Why single out one person for an economic disaster? If she was at fault , then who was in charge of her? The buck does not stop with Errant IFA,s.
It is always nice to blame someone , but try looking higher up the ladder, people can only get away with this stuff if their leaders are happily concentrating on the bonus and not how it was achieved.

Well Well, We all knew there were  people losing their jobs now,
as well as in the future. And lots more to follow in other directions that will affect this Island. Will the politians who recently voted on allowing T.L.S proposition to bring in all the extra people to the Island
. Now see what utter fools they have made of themselves
Can't see there  is still a recession ,Or make allowances for future loss of jobs?. Could it have been because a new member D, Wimberley brought the proposition to the States?Childlessly could'nt let him win. And perhaps  face what we all knew,The hard times ahead , He at least had  foresight to put local people and Islands needs first.
.Those  imbeciles who voted against him. havent a clue how to govern in the islands best interest.Where are the jobs for the additional
150 coming from each year? and so many out of work already' For Goodness sake  get all these out at the next election. If they have'nt yet ruined this island.Incompent imbeciles, what else can you call them, Do they not realize how they vote can ruin this island?

If anyone deserves a prize for crassness in this matter it is Annie du Feu in the "This Is Jersey" commentary on the Lloyd's redundancies.

See http://www.thisisjersey.com/2009/06/24/180-jobs-to-go-at-bank/ , comment 4.

I think she was trying to be ironic but sometimes it is hard to tell.

She is being ironic, but I can't see the so called Financial Quarter being built any time soon, any how.

Even if it is built, they'll just fill it up with overpaid civil servants.  This being the real purpose for it.

Strange as it may seem I agree with you Danrok.

All the new offices will achieve is to create derelict buildings in another portion of town.

The scheme should be knocked on the head as it is both insane at this present time and there are major doubts about the bona fides of the main developer
