Doesn't matter if he was pushed or not, the important thing is that he has done the "right" thing. Resigned from his job for saying something that was not correct.

Now we need the same sort of commitment from Southern & Pitman, resign from their job for breaking the law.

I know, pigs, air transportation etc.

Inevitable really.I think it is a shame but after the outburst there really was no other direction to take.I wish him and his family well , I am sure he will do extremely well outside the house , without having to put up with the perpetual crap from Schhh you know who.

Jim Perchard Resigns

Jersey’s Health Minister has reigned ahead of a vote of no confidence.

Senator Jim Perchard says he regrets that his achievements have not been recognised by those who have spoken out against him.

He was criticised over remarks he made during a row with Senator Stuart Syvret and despite several apologies several of his colleagues wanted him to go.

In his resignation letter he has repeated his apologies and said he is saddened that he will not be able to implement his plans at Health and Social Services.

So who is now going to take up the post of Minister of Health? Ben couldn't hack it and Jimmy hasn't faired either. Who is left to take the post and clean up the mess!

I assume Stewart S won't be applying for the post.  Maybe Carolyn Labey, she should have an inside track.

I would imagine Paul Routier would be seen as a safe pair of hands.

Excellent shout Shiva !
Green wellies a must in the theatre. none of that washing your hands business , do you have any idea what those detergents are doing to sea life?
In view of the impending baby boomers arrival at the grubber we shall need to totally rethink our strategy on Euthonasia, after all it is no use in useing up valuable resources on people who are nearly dead anyway.
Loads of cash for itenerant Belgian Chocolate makers wishing to settle in the Island.
An absolute must will be a punk festival with Farqhuar de Toss playing lead singer for the dead babies band.
I can think of no finer person , perhaps we could amalgamate the hospital with the incinerator, and thus produce savings across the board?

No more so then calling Routier 'a safe pair of hands'. You sure Sparty old bean? He wasn't up to much down at the Soc Sec if my ailing memory serves me correctly.

I too am glad he has resigned. Unfortunately his reasons stated in the letter again seems to put the blame on others and makes no reference to his comments about committing suicide. I'm sure he has resigned before he was pushed as there is little doubt he would have sounded out a few of the House to gauge how the vote would go if he did face it.

So where does this leave TLS who said the matter was closed and fully supported JP? We know he will not resign but it does mean his power as CM has been severely dented.

And finally who is to take over? I too can see the House going for the safe (read yes-man) Routier. Personally I have been impressed by Dep Higgins' short tenure in the States (I didn't vote for him), an outside bet but definitely someone who will not be pushed around. Maybe that is what Health requires at present so I can have complete faith that it is being run properly and more importantly safely.

I predicted last week that he would resign before the no confidence vote.
There comes a moment when someone's position become untennable and he must have sounded his collegues out about the outcome. Instead of humiliation he has fallen on his sword
I don't like the man. He has something thuggish about him when he swaggers through the Royal Square
Full of himself and we can do without him.
Next please....

What do you mean " outside the house" ?. He has only resigned as minister and is still a senator in the house
The Jersey Royals are out and this will give plenty to occupy himself with
