Wouldn't a phone call asking him to attend the Police station been more appropriate and correct course of action.

4 police cars and 8 officers

Waste of tax payers money again!  Let us count up the hours and for each officer and the gas consumed in the cars concerned, no doubt they damaged the tires with a screech to the halt for dramatic effect!

What a joke - 'big gangster' Syvret subjected to the type police behaviour worthy of a potential terrorist attack! Still I guess they have to justify their over inflated wages somehow!

How the oligarchy want to keep the truth from us all. Don't let this stop you Stuart - far too many people are behind you.

Timing is everything, wasn't he about to propose a proper investigation of the Elizabeth O'rouke death?  Something had to be done to stop him!!! now we know what. Am I surprised at what the previous comments have been, NO!!! more of the fraudulent government seems to be the order of the day for the correspondents on this planet!!   People should be ashamed that only one person in Jersey has the courage to bring to light the ongoing corruption and coverups.

Probably played straight into his hands - national media might pick this one up of course, more headlines which is what he has always wanted.

It will highlight the fact that Jersey has the DPA but not the accompanying Freedom of Information Act, both were drawn up to compliment each other, ie one should balance the other.  But he did admit to breaking the law on his blog and if he did send an email about not being taken alive, can hardly question the large police presence at his arrest.

Although one has the uneasy feeling that the blue touch paper has just been lit.

I don't see what the fuss is about regarding the number of Police that were called out to the raid. The fact is that SSS admitted breaking the law on his blog. He also admitted to rather bizarre and unhinged  stuff like sleeping with a hammer under his pillow, and telling the cops he wouldn't be taken alive. We can all laugh, but at the end of the day I imagine that the Police have to take such matters seriously. He also admitted to having copies of confidential material in various locations for safe keeping (I see the raid was not at his home address).

So, a couple of officers to carry out what might reasonably prove to be a difficult arrest, and the remainder to search the premises sounds reasonable to me. Anyone in the know will tell you that search teams are usually bigger that 8 officers in any event, especially where the brief is to recover sensitive material.

Quote from above link:MP John Hemming said he had sent a letter to Justice Secretary Jack Straw asking him to monitor the situation because he believed it could be "motivated by political reasons".

This is overkill and an effort to silence SS but I think they have just made him more determined!  Kudos to SenSS!

according to the story the search is being carried out at his home address not the address that he was arrested at. so I still don't see the need or justification for the amount of officers needed to arrest him.

There was no need for any high handed tactics really!  He would have gone willingly given the chance.  The motive here is to disgrace & silence, something that will never happen.
Without SS we would never know anything about our secretive government!  His latest blog about the inquest at the hospitalprobably shook up quite a few too!

I wonder if he was on his way to see the constable of Grouville, or just arrested in a Layby?

I really think the 'powers that be' should of absolved themselves before they went after him.  It's all a bit Al Capone really. What do we expect though?

Mad how they've not arrested anyone else yet in connection with any of the alligations.

This will blow up in their faces big time. IMO - of course.

Can you imagine how cringeworthy the whole episode must have been for any police officer involved with an ounce of dignity. Just  the briefing alone must have been mental.  Little Lego® mock up off Stuarts house with little Lego® police officers surrounding it. The whole tactical opporation drawn up on etch-a-sketches - all so the evidence of the whole caper can be eradicated and forgotten about in time for tea.

Poor Stuart,  I doubt such heavy handed tactics are justified, I'm sure given Stuart's stance, he would have gladly responded positively to a request to meet the police.

Such a move by the police simply plays into his hands.  No doubt he has his baton ready to conduct the inevitable media circus which he will now try to manipulate and orchestrate.

Get a life!!!!!!!!!!!

Would you expect the police to let a suspect have time destroy potential evidence?

In reverse order.he was not arrested at his house. He was arrested in Grouville.

Blow up in the faces of whom? He was begging for this martyrdom, thats probably  why so many Police turned up.

Ongoing Enquiries may yet lead to further arrests, give the Police a chance.

Finally , it is not all a bit Al Capone , it is a lot like stupid git , taunts the police, tells them he has broken the Law
and his lawyer is surprised the Police turn up unnancounced, what part of begging for it are you having difficulty with?
Please do not give me this poor Stuart Crap , he has laid it on a plate and whats more he really wants this, he can see his last two crusades have gone nowhere , he will be screwed with the electorate next time round , he is not that great a carpenter, so this is the big push to making money out of Jersey, by screwing it and becoming Co Author of Harry Potter and ex Bobby wave the big stick.

It not exactly like a terrorist response either, is it?  ::)

Otherwise two dozen more officers would have shot Syvret in the back as he ran for Le Petit Train.
Doh.
