It is nice to be in a position where you cannot be sued, because nobody can derive a benefit, in the event they win the case.
So , hands up ,  does anyone know A Senator  who was ever arrested and subsequently was not charged since it was not in the public interest?
I am not of course referring to Frank Walker who explained at great lengths, the rumours which he had to endure for many years and were proved entirely groundless, and I apologise for even mentioning them, however there remains countless claims in this small Island about abuse/crimes by Deputies, by Senators, even by a deceased AG, about how they got away with certain matters ,because they were States members or part of the Apparatus.
I wonder if anyone out there would care to comment?

Back to topic, I don't believe Jersey is any different to anywhere else in the world, those with power and/or influence will always avoid the judges hammer, simply because they have the money, handshake or freinds to protect them.
The higher up the ladder you climb, the greater the protection because your peers will not want their association with you tarnished by your guilt, avoid establishment embarassment at all costs.  I suppose some might call it conspiracy, but really it just boils down to good old self survival and knowing the right people, hence the small fry will always get banged up and life at the top goes on. Like it or not, it's all part of democracy and the only way to change things is via the ballot box - the old saying still holds true, you get the politicians your society deserves. Same over here on the smaller isle too!

Well this year it has been proven that some States members are NOT above the law and it appears to have been a shock to them. There is also a differences between rumour mongering and actual law breaking which some people seem to not understand.

I am sure there are quite a number of things they get away with, and in reply to Debumblee be, yes there are some states members that have not escaped however I dont think this has come as a shock to any of the ones I believe you are referring to.

I do however believe there are others that it has not come as a shock to find out they can escape judicial review.

Didnt one senator break data protection yet was let off whereas another recent offender of the same act is now headed towards a penalty. I am not naming names so leave it to you to work them out but both are not difficult to figure out. One is "well in there" and the other is not.
