That way he,d have got a suspension, and a round of applause.

What a ridiculous comment! As a leftie , you should be aware of a few sayings , "democracy flows from the end of a gun" mao tsi tung.
I support violence in so far as it is a means to an end. In my youth the communist philosophy was fairly simple , if you can achieve what you want then violence is justified. It is curious that people nowadays seem to think that violence is an extraordinary situation, check out the play grounds, check out the "terrorist" countries  check out the inner cities, check out the marina, violence against persons or property has always been the revolutionary way forward, che , fidel , ho chi minh, what are you talking about Gee Gee ? I understand that violence is anathema to the vast majority of people, that does not mean that when push comes to shove we would all be so lovely as the champagne socialist era of the past 20 years has led us to believe, , we are but one step removed from the animal inside us all and are lucky we live in such a lovely place as Jersey. Check out the Avatar , is that a sword in my hand or am I just pleased to see you?

Perchard has now fessed up over his obscene language in the States, and apparently after being confronted by the JEP with recording in hand of him having told Syvret to 'slit his wrists' on a previous occasion.

I think Le Sueur needs to have a good think about his choice for Health Minister.

As I point out on another thread, TLS wanted Paul Routier but the Assembly decided to deposit JP into the post. aided and abetted by Ben Shenton.  I claim no credit for the observation, Hansard is the best piece of taxpayers cash ever spent!

Even though it was the Assembly that voted him in, it is TLS as Chief Minister that can remove him.

Sorry Newmac, have to disagree.  TLS can bring a proposal to sack him but only the Assembly can approve it - if they said no, you're stuck with him, then that's how it would be.  I suppose if that happened TLS would resign as he couldn't carry the house.

BTW, you can thank SSS for this unwieldy system as it was him who got the proposed form of ministerial government altered back in the day so that the executive didn't get too full of themselves.  Ironic he was the first and so far only Minister to get his collar felt by the assembly.......................
