I think times have changed, and high street retailers need to do more than simply put goods on shelves, and expect them to sell.  If they're to compete with online retailers, they need to be doing things which online retailers can't do.

Thing is, online retailers can generally deliver free within a couple of days at a far cheaper price.

Buying stuff online doesn,t involve driving/parking costs.

"The High St", is going to have to offer something very special if it wants to stay in business.
