Pip, to take that workload on you have to be organised and together. Late for an important debate as the main speaker, " doh ", loosing his notes, it happens, but speaking for four hours, Jesus I almost feel sorry for our States members, is he trying to talk them into submission. Bad plan they go into standby mode, or fall asleep.

Not a convincing start is it.

I think he blew it.

"Yes miss, I have done all my homework, but I just forgot to bring it."

Good grief.

Pip,

I am sorry but you are wrong. Never before has a States member almost missed his own report and proposition. He is soo eccentric. He wanted the Environment Scrutiny Panel to pay 5K to commision a report after telling them that what they were doing is wrong and getting their staff to do stuff without asking the chairman of the comittee. He runs riot nad wont use his own expenses to comission reports. He sets questions to ministers and cant even be bothered to attend to see the answers.

He got in the back door of the elections with less than 300 votes and it seems that he only has one mission and on his first day of delivery he had to be reminded it was a parliamentary assembly and not a school debating society.  A 4 hour speech, jesus.

4 hours? To correct a £100+ million potential error? Seems OK to me.

The "dog has eaten my homework" performance was definitely not good though.

I'm glad it is going into a 2nd day though, some members may actually read some of his material overnight.

Sorry the way I look at it, 4 hours / GBP50Million = GBP12.5 Million write off per an hour.

Wimberley's proposition claims to come in under budget, even with the £50 million penalty. If he's right - maybe he is, maybe he isn't - then your argument is a non-starter.

£50 million penalty clause. It does beg the question, what the hell was the previous Council of Ministers doing signing contracts with a £50 million penalty clause???

Haven't they heard of negotiation? Why did they not negotiate it down to, say, £10 million or £15 million? "Here you are Mr Developer, here's £110 million worth of business, but we only agree to a £10 million penalty. Don't want the business in a forthcoming global recession? Fine. Bye!"

It's almost as if they set out to bind the hands of the next Council of Ministers.  ::)

Lord de Faye of Bel Royal negotiated all right but not that type of negotiating

Sorry the way I look at it, 4 hours / GBP50Million = GBP12.5 Million write off per an hour.

The final total cost of a smaller plant amounts to millions of pounds less than the currently approved monolithic incinerator, so I don't follow your logic.

It's just unfortunate that we had that great numpty Guy de Faye at the helm when the current incinerator was approved.

They should never have allowed him to sign that contract just prior to an election, especially given it seemed unlikely that he would be re-elected.

You might think that Dan has done his homework. However it's hard to find his argument credible when he is so rambling and disorganised.  He was getting his figures all jumbled up, he couldn't remember the locations of authorities in the UK who have decided on a different course of action and some his "facts" had some very tenious links.  But having said all of that he has certainly raised some genuine concerns but put him in charge of anything? Loose £50million because of his opinion? I don't think so.

They all kind of put a lot of work in, but whether this will come to anything is doubtful.

But I am intrigued rico, what do you do?  You don't work if you have time to attend Royal Court or States debates all week.

Your not on benefits are you?
