The wage for a States member is £44,000 per year. Now any job comes with what hours you have to work and the normal hours today for white collar workers is 37 hours Mon - Fri.
A States member works 24/7, yes i know some do not will come to that later. Where would you get someone working all hours 7 days a week for £44,000, you will not!
So having free parking is not that bad really. Now should it be that Ministers should be paid more and assist ministers a little less with backbenchers on the lowest wage. I am not saying that i agree with free parking but just asking the question when you see what the private sector earns doing a similar job of a states member. Also if a minister does not come up to the job he goes down to the backbenchers with the low pay, might just get the ministers etc doing a better job than what is being done now.

Its not bad money when you what other things you can do in your own time. I mean a few have time to attend Court hearings and one can not only do that but also arrange silly whistle blowing protests and run a dead blog at the same time.

Retailing in town having a hard time, not a problem say States to help lets just  increase the parking charges.

While city centres in the UK can be eye watering expensive there is no need to follow suit. Why because the muti - stories build costs are all paid for on Jersey.

The States money grabbing machine rumbles on.

correct , the latest charge rise is nothing more than a stealth tax, guernsey  have only   just  started charging  for parking  after a lot  of debate .
the cost of this  new mad cap scheme  is  another delve into the public purse for some thing that is not needed .
there are always paycards for sale at the petrol station and there is only the cost of printing  and  distribution.
i just hope that not toomuch much public money has being wasted so far .

my wife has a blue badge.
i can see where this would go wrong ,  i guess that the  car she uses would be redgistered on the system.
sometimes we go in my car, and use her badge in  my car, as we are allowed to do.
good point cb my car wont be redgistered.
maybe  the goverment intend to do away with the blue badge scheme, as they seem to think that,
we are all having a jolly good time and are  raking in the cash, as its all rosey in the garden.(not)
