I think using the alias, "Jeremy Macon", in an attempt to have an influence in local politics is a bit hypocritical.
Would the ,"Yoof", have voted for Nellie?

I believe it was openly reported that multi-storey car-parks were to be caged off to deter jumpers.
What I could never understand is why.
Surely anyone determined to jump to their death could find high points almost anywhere.

Are there plans afoot to fence-off the cliff-paths, put safety nets over the sea etc?

Or, did someone in the States have a ,"Buddy", specialising in anti-suicide systems for car-parks?

If someone falls from a carpark there's a risk of them landing on someone walking past.  Not so likely if they fall from a cliff.

This is completely off thread unless your mum intends, jumping off a carpark but my understanding for the fences at the top was because distressed people put at risk our service people, police and ambulance who were trying to talk them out of the jump.

Also service people were distressed, at the scene, and may need councilling and time off as its not a good experiance seeing someone reach the end of the line this way.

It is impossible to prevent 100% of those wanting to commit suicide - fact.

This was agreed by the States in about 2004/5 - there were a considerable number of the youth of the island who were sniffing glue and then deciding they could fly.  Not only was it bad for the youth but it was not at all pleasant for the emergency services.

I think the proposition was brought by Jennifer Bridge - who was certainly only thinking of the welfare of the jumpers and there was no hidden agenda.

If any of you had actually seen someone jump off a multistory then you would realise why the fencing has been put up.

I have seen the mess afterwards and with blood and brains all over the road it is not a pretty site.  One of the saddest ways to go really.

Definately. I have seen a jumper, the poor copper trying to grab the person and then the mess the poor bastards have to deal with after.

Not pretty at all.

And in a way I think it is better for the jumpers to go elsewhere out of public view if thats what they want to do.

Tetras yu really are going to new levels to try and sugest that the states are holding information from us. Surely you should leave people who have committed suicide and their famillies alone and stop your not so hidden agenda. Suicide's are a fact of life and occur everywhere at levels which are too high - not just Jersey.
