It was clear within all eight candidates at St. Brelade No 2 that the Parish should be re-united and that the small pocket that compromises No. 1 should be now included in a one Parish mandate.
If we can do this quickly, I know Montfort agrees, then we should bring this to a Parish Assembly asap.
That might take a year. The Guernsey model should be looked at also, combining Parishes and Douzaine representation.
I could live with Jersey West, (St. B, St.P, St. L and St O,) St. Helier Central, and then Jersey East, (St. S, St.C, and G ) and perhaps Jersey North, ( St. M, St. J, TR and St. Mart).
If amalgamating St. Brelade is an issue then God help us in trying anything bigger.
There will be call for much electoral reform in the next three years.
St. Brelade needs to be one Parish. These elections prove that.
The big voting population is living within Quennevais and La Moye including Bellevue, Don Farm, Quennevais Park, Clos Des Sables, Clos Orange, Mont es Croix, Petite Route des Mielles.
In St. Brelade, we listen to a small vociferious group in one part of the Parish that have a disproportionate representation and effect.
That is, if ever, an valid reason for uniting the Parish.
