It doesn,t matter what they sell. If folk have no money, they will be selling bugger all.

The vast majority of locals are still working and getting paid!  Clothes are essential items.

Also, I can imagine many UK retailers would want to have a store here.  Even if there is a recession, Jersey is fas less worse than UK towns.

UK chain stores don't simply give up just because there is a recession, many will see it as a time of opportunity.

"Financial types", are going to feel the bite of the credit crunch much harder than those used to a more frugal lifestyle.

Newlook sell cool clothes that are affordable,  all walks of life would shop there.. I would expect them to bring over there  store manager and a couple of floor managers..But topshop and the others on and around king street might get worried.. Newlook could kill it, im not sure you can just let them in without doing some retail research first..

Financial types aren't they into fashion and all that? Maybe they will shop there?

Those with lots of cash and expensive taste in clothes won't be shopping there.  What they're selling a cheap copies of more expensive clothes.

Nothing wrong with that, but fashionista types wouldn't been seen dead wearing clothes with "new look" on the label.

This is like the Tesco value brand, except clothes instead of food.
