Zaphrod Beetlebrox Award
« on: November 20, 2008, 02:09:25 PM »
The rag this evening has served us well in granting an all encompassing insight into the political hopefuls for the future. There are a total of 13 districts with 25 seats and 63 candidates. This suggests to me that there will be 38 candidates who will undoubtably fail to gain a seat. There are 16 standing for re-election. Of these candidates, which ones do you think should be awarded the Zaphrod Beetlbrox award for having two faces in politics? And why?

I have just received a telephone call from a member of the public who has been visited by a candidate's "helpers".
The "helpers" are under instructions to ask at the front doors of the electorate if they have any preferred "second nominee", if the answer given is "no" then a recommendation is made for the second vote. This dirty tricks campain, if it comes to my front door will be taped.  Worthy of an award.......?

What's unusual about a candidate recommending another candidate, it happens all the time.

As to your quote was that just before he fell off the cliff ;)

Of course it does, doesn't make it right though does it ? Look at Morgan Tsvangirai and Arthur Mutambara, I think they would agree with me rather than you on the fairness of letting people vote without being co-erced into having an opinion for the benefit of a third party.
My quote was from the bible. Look it up ;)

You didn't say that acts or threats of violence were used, in which case it's not right, but if it's just some one suggesting with out any threat I don't see the problem.

As for the bible that's one piece of fiction I wouldn't bother reading ;)

Ok, if I knocked on your door and "advised you who to vote for" what would you say?

If you were the candidate I was thinking of voting for I would thank for your suggestion. If I didn't support you I would thank you for you suggestion.

I just can't see the big deal your making out of it, but maybe I'm wrong.

My feeling is that you would tell me to mind my own business. The point I'm making is simply that I don't reckon you would listen for a second, your mind would be made up before you answered the  door. After all, you have an opinion?

I do have an opinion and I've given it, if a candidate knocked on my door and was polite I would listen and be polite back. manners cost nothing something that is sadly lacking these days.
