You can tell the deputy elections are soon

A Jersey Deputy fears recommendations from the Kathie Bull report are being sidelined.

If he's so concerned why hasn't spoke out before on this :(

Shortly you will see a lot more "dormant" deputies coming out the woodwork to make noises
It's election time after all and they want to keep their £45.000 per year income
James Reed from St Ouen's will be one of them no doubt

What's with Reed? Is he useless?

Interesting, you get an Island wide mandate and can get knocked out easy, you get £45k, you get a Parochial mandate which is directly regional and you can sit unopposed, you get £45k.
No wonder Sean's rubbing his paws.
"That's not in the effing good book!"

Alan MacClean became a States Member in 2005 with just 434 votes and then became assistant Minister for Economic development dishing out millions of our hard earned cash to airlines and keeping it a secret.
The system needs an drastic overhaul but it will never happen because as soon as candidates are in they forget about the electoral reform

Have you ever heard him speak ? A farmer who didn't farm very well and needed a job.

Slack jaw then?

I've got to say I'd never even heard of the guy let alone hear him speak.

What's he done for the parishioners in St. Ouen's in his term?

I'd love to see Mark Forskitt go for that job. It would be the perfect role for him what with you St. Ouennais' being be free thinking radicals with your own independent state! (or somehing like that)  ;D

I don't live from St O but know he was elected with 519 votes in 2002 and in 2005 the only other candidate was a Jersey cow who was disqualified.
Heard him on talkback once - a great bore and waffler who made me fell asleep
Should go back to farming - perhaps a joint venture with Jimmy-referendum-Perchard would suit him better
There are more like him in the States

I think Cliff le Clercq might fancy his chances in his home parish.

Then if you both stood there would be every chance the electorate of the parish would get a representative they could respect and admire.

Agree with Razzard. Mark you and cliff are very credible candidates and would be an asset to the states.

He is also my Vice Chairman on PAC - I don't always agree with him but he is bright,  has great integrity and the well being of the Island at heart.  Definitely his own man - and not a yes man.  We actually need more like him in the States.
