Will NOT vote for
« on: October 10, 2008, 11:31:57 AM »
I have just received through my letterbox a very expensive looking full colour brochure promoting Ian Le Marquand for Senator. Presumably all Jersey residents received one
Very glossy but unfortunately contains many ( empty ) promises and little substance. This whitewash has put me right off him
And so did Alan McClean's JEP front page colour advert of today
I shall not waste a vote on either of them

Can never really get my head around the, "Please Vote For.....", bit. Makes them sound a bit desperate and unsure of themselves.

Whatever happened to the , "Vote For.........You know it makes sense", sort of campaigns?

OK, the ,"Please ", bit might be showing good manners, but I have yet to see the ,"Thank You", bit by showing good government. ;D

anyone who is spending a fortune on their campaign is obviously just doing it because they know that money means power in this Island therefore we will have the same old rubbish we have had for years from the establishment cronies.  Le Marquand will certainly not be receiving a vote from me (not just purely on this point)

Money does mean power, as does a lack of it.  Nothing like being robbed to motivate a person in to action.  I'm thinking about the 19,000 people who signed the anti-GST petition.

The "GST 28" paid no attention to that petition.  But, no worries because now we get a chance to vote some of them out!  ;)

I'm still undecided on Ian Le Marquand. he has a lot of good points and then again theres quite a few points I don't agree with.

The establishment cronie aspect alone means no vote from me.

I am with you there danrock

Also Imogan Nicolls wrote to the JEP when she was ousted, why ? to tell the voters that they had made a bad mistake and they would loose out,
and Carter, architect of the TA and infamous massive flood cavern, burst in to tears.

The moral here is that they both had the illusion that they would be voted back in, how out of touch can you get ?

I am out of the country at the moment but coming back early to use my vote, oh heaven !

A Very fair man but I'm not convinced he has a grasp on the figures. nearly everyone (last nights rag) was saying how they would keep expenditure at the same level ILEM included.

No one has taken notice of the fact that even the UK government has recognised that the levels of absolute compliance in general things ( planning H&S Building control etc) are not only causing unecessary costs to the public but also to the gov themselves in terms of unnecessary administration. In order to combat this they have eased up in many areas to "grease the wheels of progress".

There is too much generality in his statements so I'm on the fence at the moment.

"That's not in the effing good book!"

I actually think Ian Le Marquand deserved to come first in the elections.  I had a chat with him at one of the hustings and he showed genuine concern for many of the subjects being used by the other candidates.  He is also right about some members if Government not being professional enough to be in public office, we have seen that already this year.
This is where I go back to raising the wages, Ian's CV in comparison to some of the others on the same pay is just just a mile ahead.

I still haven't decided whether is a wolf in sheep's clothing and there is something about him I do not trust
Perhaps it is the fact that he celebrated his election victory with a glass of milk but that should't be held against him. I hope I am wrong

I always found I Le M to be a very wise and fair man in my previous,"Encounters", with him.
