Phil Rondel

Former Deputy to stand againBy Ben Quérée

FORMER St John Deputy Phil Rondel (pictured) is making a political comeback.

The former plumber has announced that he will stand for Deputy in St John — the seat he held from 1994 to 2005. His announcement follows the news that the current Deputy, Assistant Home Affairs Minister Andrew Lewis, will not be standing for re-election.

Mr Rondel (62) stepped down three years ago for family reasons, but says that he is delighted to be able to put his name forward again and that he has the full support of his family behind him.

‘Having had many parishioners and indeed Islanders asking me to allow my name to go forward in recent months for both Senator and Deputy, I have great pleasure in confirming that I shall be standing once again for Deputy of St John,’ he said.

‘I believe that with my experience and the fact that I have both the time and energy to commit to the position I still have a lot to offer the parish.’

Maybe the, "Extended Family", could do with a bit of political help. Methinks.

Isnt this the guy who wouldn't let the land ofice sell properties they are literally stuck with??
Should he have another turn having failed the electorate once when there are other minds who may be more positive around?

He is involved, "Ball Deep", with the latest recycling set up at La collette. As was former Deputy, Mike Taylor.

Family connections. ;)

I see cheap words I see no proof, like most people on this good forum I am capable of making my own mind up. So.....................

Fritz…….. please back up your statement that Rondel is Ball Deep with business connections and proof, lets have some fun Fritz..... take it all the way. The mods love proof to stop litigation, you are safe.

Dylan…………. help me out again, he wasn’t liked last time round, which of the 90,000 people on this island did not like him. You made the statement. I know it’s a lot of typing but you seem sort of sure of your facts. Names please and major examples. Its ok to trash an ex paid politician but there must be valid reasons as to why he is crap and not worth voting for, Convince us ?

I have no intention of providing , "Proof", of the conversations I,ve had with Phil Rondel and Mike Taylor,s son-in-laws.

In My Opinion:

They have abused their family connections in the past to gain lucrative States Contracts.
They hope that by getting a family member back into The States, their futures will be secured.

Fritz for you only -- I met PR 3 times. Each time I left with the impression that he is a bully who will use any means for his own purposes. I have met many people with similar opinions from the Bonne Nuit Boatowners to Politicians and business owners. Don't tell boatyboy as I think he is friendly with PR. Cheers.

I know the former Landlord of the pub in St. Johns, (a few years ago), when he refused to serve PR for being drunk got the. "Do you know who I am?" treatment.

The landlord was dismissed a few weeks later.
