Another waste of £60,000.00

"An emergency room for the parish of St Helier to operate from in case of a disaster is being set up.

At a cost to parishioners of £60,000, the office will be used in case of a major fire, explosion or even IT meltdown.
Town Constable Simon Crowcroft has approved plans to build the business continuity suite, which will be located on the first floor of offices in Nelson Street – the original town fire station – and will be funded by parish rates specifically set aside for such a project".

An IT meltdown? are they having a laugh?

Why is this happening when there's a fully equipped civil emergency bunker around the back of Le Geyt Flats?

The Minden Place shelter was cleared out about 15 years ago. It was full to the brim of emergency biscuit supplies, intended to be handed out to the masses just before we started rioting out of starvation....

Hang on! The "the business continuity suite" would be just around the corner from their existing office. Not much use in any real disaster situation, both sites could be affected and unusable.

Who comes up with these ideas?  ::)
