I live in St Brelade we don't have the drunks so much, but we do have the Chavs in their 205. Corsa's or like using the road as a race track at all times of the night. Some nights it can be a continuous round of cars going up and down until 4 or 5 in the morning.
You can't get good chinese takeout in China and cuban cigars are rationed in Cuba. That's all you need to know about communism

...the situation is far from being "some myth"...

OK...in my earnestness to get across a point that I have lived in places where I have known it much worse, noisier and more violent, I may have overstated my case (and, yes, forgive me, late-night noise in the middle of town is not a 'myth' as I put it before, but, to put it better, a problem that doesn't bother me personally). I would need to have a heart of stone (and, honestly, no irony or sarcasm is meant here) not to sympathize with your situation as you have described it, AHITS, but, perhaps, I simply enjoy living in an urban environment with noise and bustle outside continuously - indeed, the silence of a night in the country, with only the rustling of a hedgehog thro' the undergrowth or birds settling for the night to disturb it, would probably bother me more.
As I write, from my window I can see about fifteen people noisily making their way from one venue to another, or home, and I can hear the music from the pub up the road - if the noise bothers me too much I can just turn up my music ...and if it goes on when I am in my bed (and it usually does...one of the nightclubs is next door) then I am lucky enough to be able to get a good night's sleep without it bothering me.

Jersey's planning minister has come under intense pressure to reject plans for a housing estate on the site of the former holiday village at Plemont.

Senator Freddie Cohen is due to consider plans for 36 new homes on the site next Friday.

Five of the island's most powerful conservation and heritage organisations have signed a letter urging the minister to reject the housing scheme.

They describe development of the holiday village in the 1950s as a 'gross error' in planning terms and a wrong that can be put right now.

Well, do you think he will????

Maybe if the government starves the people they won't grow as tall to accomplish this?

How about they just make milk so expensive nobody drinks it and their bones don't grow fully, and while you are at it, remove the school milk so that the poor won't get any at school as well. That should work! or is this idea already being instigated?

HOMEBUY

More help's being given to first time buyers to get them on the property ladder.

Politicians have supported plans for the Homebuy scheme.

It means some islanders will be able to own a hundred percent of their home, but pay just 65 percent of the market price for it.

Thirty four politicians were in favour, five against - with two choosing not to vote.

Senator Cohen says at this stage it'll only benefit a few islanders.

I always thought this idea was stupid because it does nothing in the way of bringing down prices, in fact the Government is helping in keeping them high.

I'd be interested to see how that works in practice, sounds like something which is just mostly spin - as he says it will only benefit a few islanders.

65% of the value of a 3 bedroomed house + mortgage interest is still a heck of a lot of money to many people.

House prices need to go down and thats even if it means raising the housing quals back again.  To much demand and not enough supply.

But to help keep the prices high in helping people to pay the going prices only shows a hidden vested interest to me.

House prices need to go down.

Wait until the interest relief on mortgages is gone completely in 2012.  I heard its being tapered down already.
